Great idea they work great
I bought this for my drop shot rods and it works great. Now I use different sizes on all my rods. The complaints I have are they cost to much and they sink like a rock if one goes in the water.

Fit on different rod diameters
I just purchased the small (yellow), medium (red), and large (black) CaliClips and mades some measurements and observations about the rod diameter ranges for these clips.Small (Yellow) has a relaxed uninstalled diameter of 0.35". It will snap on rod diameters up to about 0.48".Medium (red) has a relaxed diameter of 0.42". It will snap onto rod dimaters up to 0.54".Large (black) has a relaxed diamter of 0.5". It will snap onto a rod diameter up to 0.65".I have just snapped a Medium (Red) CaliClip onto the 0.52" diameter of my smaller Shakespear surf rod and it fits nicely. I can place my hook in that clip and tighten the line enough to bend the rod without the clip slipping..I also just snapped a Large (Black) CaliClip onto the 0.59" diameter of my larger Shakespear surf rod and it fits nicely without slipping when I tighten the line against a hook that was placed in the clip..I hope with this information you can now purchase the size CaliClip you need withhout too much risk of guessing wrong. I had been using "the other type of hook keepers" which use an elastomer o-ring to attach the keeper to the rod. Those hook keepers have been falling off (o-rings break?).

Kind of works
I'm giving this a 3 star rating because I got one out of three clips to work. The smallest one. And just barely.I got these for two of my rods, a Light power Shimano Sensilite and a Med power Fenwick Eagle. Both of these are set up as drop shot rigs. I unwrapped the sinker leader ( which is 16-18") from around a pole and grabbed the smallest cali clip, the yellow one. My intention was to leave the hook attached to the rod's built in hook keeper and attach the cali clip up the rod, away from the handle. No dice. Both rods are just too skinny for the smallest clip to grip onto.I called the manufacturer and he was ready to refund me, saying he had heard of this before, but not often. He asked me for some pics. That's when the light bulb went off.If you use the first line guide to hook the hook onto, then the yellow cali clip has just enough tension to do it's job resting right above the handle. At least with my length leader and on these two particular rods. If the leader was 12" it would be too short. If it was 20" it would be too long. The Shimano has a split grip and attaching a cali clip to the split grip won't position the hook anywhere where I can hook it onto something. Neither the keeper nor the guide. What I need is another yellow clip.I'm going to say that it's too bad you can't order the diameter you need, rather than a three pack of different sizes when only one will most likely work in your application. And it's really too bad they don't make a smaller diameter clip than what they currently do. That would solve all my problems. Especially if I use a different length leader from the hook to the sinker.I may have to go the rubber band around the grip route.

Just need one size
Wish I could buy a pack of just 1 size...I need 7 more of the red ones but have no use for the black or yellow ones. Happy with the product, it does what it was built to do and doesn't slide up the rod. Good product, just wish there were more buying options.
