Excellent quality for the price!
I needed a cutting tool while rebuilding our front steps. I saw this online and decided to purchase from Amazon. It arrived very quickly. There are many features to like. Blade installation is very simple. Variable speeds allow the user to adjust to a variety of cutting tasks. The LED guide light is very precise and makes cutting in a straight line very easy. Although I have used this tool for several days, in my judgement the build quality is excellent. IMHO, this might be suitable for a professional user. In sum, this is an excellent tool. My only complaint is that the jigsaw comes with only two blades. If you are buying this to work on a major project or on a worksite, get some extra blades.

All the features of a Jigsaw twice it's price
I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting anything spectacular for $30 and wasn't even going to buy from WEN after a bad experience with one of their rotary tools. I needed a Jigsaw to make router templates and various odd jobs around the wood shop but wasn't interested in dropping a ton of money and kept coming back to this one based on its really nice set of features for the price. Its got both a light and laser, blower and dust port, comes with 2 blades, edge guide and plenty of power which I did need for cutting hardwoods. So what the heck right? Showed up today and I'm pretty surprised and it's overall build quality. What you can't see in the pics is the nice rubberized handle and quality feel of the overall tool. It's heavy but not cumbersome with very little vibration. As I was hoping, there is lots of power and the variable speed is smooth to operate. I did a few test cuts in some hard maple and red oak and the stock wood blade is plenty sharp and cuts true. Love the laser and light at the same time! Also the blower feature clears sawdust very well as you cut. I have not tried the dust collection and probably won't mess with it. Overall, I'm happy so far. If it holds up I will consider other tools from WEN.

Not bad at all!
Not too shabby! Runs pretty smoothly. Laser needs pretty low light to use. Otherwise, it'll definitely work for the average homeowner.

Top Notch Performance, Low Price
I bought this saw, though I suppose I really didn't "need" it as I already have 2 other saber/jig saws But those 2 are old as technology goes, 1 being a little Skil I bought new 20-odd years ago and the other a Craftsman probably 40 - 50 years old. The problem is they both take the U notched blades which are old technology and getting scarce. Plus, I wanted a laser guide as my 75 year old eyes aren't as good as they once were. I looked at this and it looked substantial, had many features, and the price didn't break the budget.I didn't get the 2 blades that were supposed to be included but I'd bought a set of new ones so that was no problem. I decided to use it today to cut down some shelves (white oak) that I'd salvaged from an old entertainment center. I'd already used the other saber saws for some cutting so I gave this a try today. WOW!!! It went through that oak like the proverbial hot knife through butter, about twice as fast as either the Skil or the Craftsman. It wasn't as fast as a circular saw but it beats the 2 older saws I have. To say I'm favorably impressed is an understatement, this is a great value for its price. It's a large and substantial unit, solid and powerful, and IMO, it's a 5 star product. I'll probably keep the 2 older saws for old times' sake but, when there's some serious cutting to be done, I'll definitely grab this one.

A Great Buy
My wife purchased this Wen jig saw for me. What a buy it has so many features, its just heads and shoulders above my old saw that died on my last project. I really appreciate what Wen offers to the homeowner handyman quality, power, extra features and available at a fair price.

Great jig saw for DIY use
I got this as I’m installing some acoustic wood panels in my home office and had to cut some outlet spaces in the panels. This worked perfectly for my needs.I’m a woodworking n00b so was intimidated at first, but quickly figured this out after a couple quick YouTube tutorials on how to use and safety guidance. The stupidest thing I did was not seeing the variable speed control, trying to run this on the lowest setting, and almost returning it for not working because the blade wasn’t moving at all when I pulled the trigger. As soon as I bumped up the speed though it obviously worked fine. Seems dumb to have the lowest setting literally be 0 instead of 1, but whatever.I also really appreciate that the chuck key to loosen/tighten the blade release is actually attached to the power cord so you won’t lose it and it’s always available when you need it. And I love the laser. It helped a lot for longer cuts that I wanted to make sure were straight.Ergonomics were also ok on this. The safety switch isn’t perfectly placed but I think that’s by design so it’s not easy to accidentally turn this on. And the handle is comfortable otherwise.I would do a couple things I would do differently if I were to look for a new jig saw. First, I’d probably go cordless. There are certainly benefits to corded, but the convenience and freedom you get from cordless is hard to beat. I’d be ok sacrificing a bit of power for that convenience, but that’s just because I’m not doing anything substantial with this. Second is I’d love to have a proper case for this along with blade storage. It bothers me that this doesn’t fit neatly anywhere and is just kinda lying around. Third is that I’d probably get an oscillating tool instead. I think it’s just more versatile for home needs. For the price though, I can confidently say this is an excellent option if you need the occasional jig saw for small work around the house.
