A nice drain pan , I actually used it for a waterdrop whole house water filter that I put in a washroom , when changing filters i wont spill water on the floor it'll go to the sump pump in the crawl space.

Good piece of mind
I have had a tankless water heater for nearly 10 years and never realized there were drain pans available for them. Ironically the tankless was a replacement for a tank model that had the tank rust out and leak out.I know that drain pans for tank models have been around for years and are plumbing code in many places. I was already familiar with the Camco brand from molded plastic products I've bought for my RV, and are of high quality. While we were over 750 miles away on vacation, my tankless water leaked, thankfully I have a leak detection system that caught it and turned the water off before much damage occurred. After doing the post mortem on the tankless; I found an internal water connection that had failed and sprayed water on the electronic control board and ruining it; I chose to just replace the water heater. Installation is very simple, just drill 3-4 holes in the top and mount to wall under water heater. Mine mounted on a concrete wall, and I used Tapcons. I even mounted the little condensate pump inside this pan. Bear in mind that any internal leak in a tankless water heater will be under full house pressure, not just a drip. A lot of the leakage will be sprayed through openings on the water heater like around the front control panel; the leaks don't necessarily go straight down. I'm highly concerned about water leaks and realize this might not be an absolute defense, but it does add an additional level of confidence.

Flimsy and pricey, but it works
Purchased this drain pan to install under my Rinnai tankless water heater. I've got a sediment filter and anti-scale device plumbed into the water supply under the water heater to catch any leaks. It it seems to be too expensive for what you get, but it's the best solution I could find for my needs as I did not want a metal drain pan. I agree with others who reviewed this drain pan as "flimsy." It's pretty floppy until you get it attached to the wall, and then it's acceptably wobble-free. I'd prefer it was made with a thicker and more rigid plastic. If you order it with a CPVC fitting, be prepared to have difficulty finding CPVC or PVC pipe that fits. I gave up looking for it at my local Home depot. I'll head to a plumbing supply store to find a solution. There is no hardware supplied with this drain pan other than the CPVC or PVC drain fitting. For those who might wonder what's the difference between PVC and CPVC, I'm told that CPVC is for use with hot or cold water, while PVC is just for cold. You will notice CPVC has a yellowish color while most PVC is white. The drain fitting will hold just a half inch or so of water at the bottom. I'm looking to change it out so that it will hold more water (a standpipe) so I can set a float-activated water supply shutoff device in the bottom of the pan because there's always a chance that a significant leak or catastrophic failure could occur when I'm not home to notice and react. Suggested improvements: 1. Thicker, more rigid material 2. Make the front, lower basin corners rounded - so they're less lethal 3. make the basin with a less sloped area by the drain hole to make it easier to install a float-activated water shutoff device 4. include a standpipe option

Great product for the price however do not go tankless!!!
What you are not told in any of the reviews is the following: 1)Tankless water heaters require a special expanded port for venting as the exhaust is far too hot for a normal vent and could likely lead to a house fire if not properly installed by a licensed plumber with a great deal of experience. 2)Tankless water heaters will need a special dedicated gas line to provide the amount of natural gas needed to bring water temperature up to an acceptable level. 3) Tankless water heaters need to be serviced 3-5 times a year by a plumber via flush out valves as the sediment build up happens much more rapidly than with a traditional water heater. This is to the tune of $75.00- $200.00 per visit from the plumber. A special high ph vinegar solution is needed and the process takes about 2 hours. A great residual income for the plumber. Not so great on the touted fictional savings of a tankless over a regular water heater. 4) The amount of gas used from the special dedicated gas line is not that much less from a regular gas water heater if it is well insulated. None of this is told to the consumer in advanced or event published as far as I can tell from all the information I gathered and the reviews I read. This leads me to believe most of the positive reviews are fictitious and are not true consumer reviews. Be wary my fellow consumers when purchasing a tankless and be aware there is much more cost associated with this than meets the eye!

This is to prevent any water to leak but unfortunately, this is way too big. I actually bought the small one and it's still too big for the water heater. My heater is 9x13x4 deep and the drain pan would still manage to fit another 7 of these boxes in there.

It was a bit of plumbing work to provide drainage for the tray. Am quite happy with the results and also looks not too bad!

This is the replacement for the first one which had a missing fitting and it too has the 1.5" PVC fitting with gasket missing making both of them un usable. Now what do I try for a third time or just give up Customer is frustrated too The lesson is Amazon is hit and miss so if you are trying to run a business you should probably find a more reliable supplier.
