This shirt from the WarbirdShirtsTM collection features the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress. The B-17 was America's first great heavy bomber. Entering service in 1941 the B-17 was four engined bomber capable of carrying bomb loads in excess of 8,000lbs. The B-17 saw action in every theater of WII and formed the backbone of the 8th Air Forces daylight bombing campaign against Germany. The B-17 in this illustration is the "Memphis Belle" made famous in the 1944 documentary film and again in 1990's Hollywood blockbuster.
