Covers a lot of ground really well
Highly recommended. I have both this book and Programming Elixir by Dave Thomas and I would recommend buying both if possible. This book (Elixir in Action) moves along at an excellent pace. It really focuses nicely on the OTP framework and building fault-tolerant concurrent systems, which is where Elixir excels. It is a very good complement to the Dave Thomas book which provides a slightly more gentle introduction to some of the fundamentals.

Fantastic book that helps you understand Elixir and the OTP framework
This was one of the first functional programming and Elixir books I read - and I'm glad I did. As you'd expect, the book does a fantastic job covering the fundamentals of Elixir, however where I feel it really shines is how it covers processes and the OTP framework; you actually get to build your own server processes from scratch before you are introduced to GenServers, likewise with Supervisors. This is an excellent way to show you exactly what’s going on under the hood, and once you’re done reading the book you’ll leave with a fantastic insight into Elixir as a language and Erlang and OTP as the VM and framework that powers it. The author (who is very well known and respected in Elixir circles) also sets a good pace and keeps you focused along the way.Buy this book, you won’t regret it!
