Americaine Hemorrhoidal Ointment Maximum Strength 20% Benzocaine 1 oz

This might sound funny, but I use this ointment for insect bites because it kills the itch in mere moments. A pharmacist recommended it for this purpose and it has never let me down. It goes on and rubs in easily, leaves no greasiness and lasts a long time. Perfect for bites so it probably works well for other uses too.

This stuff is amazing! You can't always find it in stores. It numbs the hemoriods.

Works great to numb and take the pain away! This is one of the highest (if not the highest) concentration of benzocaine ointments marketed for hemorrhoid pain relief. Other well known brands that you’ll find in a regular local store like Preparation H do not have this much pain relieving ingredient. In fact, the most benzocaine or lidocaine I’ve seen in any are maybe 5%.... so only 1/4 of the pain relief of this product! Actually, being straight benzocaine it could be used in any small area where rapid pain relief is needed. Benzocaine’s uses go well beyond hemorrhoids. In a pinch, I used a dab of this once on a painful small cut after cleaning and dressing with saline and neosporin, then a bandage.Having said that, this IS simply for pain relief and does not contain anything else to shrink swollen tissues (vasoconstrictor) or witch hazel or any of the other ingredients one may find in Preparation H and other topical hemorrhoidal medications. I say, mix this along WITH one of the other medications for extra effectiveness!Also, this may sting just a bit for a few seconds after application (as all numbing agents often do) but that’s to be expected and tells me it has a good strength of the benzocaine in the product. After that few seconds you will feel excellent relief. Benzocaine, lidocaine, and the like is used religiously in the hospital setting for a variety of topical pain relief needs, and has been for generations because it works!Excellent product and I will purchase again if needed. Thankfully Amazon carries these items that for some ridiculous reason brick and mortar stores won’t carry :) Happy sitting!!!

It's a good formula for mild to moderate occasional flare ups, when warm soaks and witch hazel/aloe aren't enough.

I ordered this, not because of hemmorrhoids, but I figured If it could be used for that maybe it would work for the pain of palmar psoriasis. Unfortunately, it doesn't work as well as I'd hoped for. Fortunately, I've used BENZODENT for dental pain. It's a 30% benzocaine paste. Fortunately, it works really well on palmar psoriasis pain too.
