Dalen owl
This owl is brilliant, looks real from a distance. It kept pigeons away for a while but they get used to it.It does say keep moving it around but one can't if it's secured down. Packaging was not brilliant but arrived in good order, its also a bit pricey. But hey it's ok.

Owl from The Exorcist
The media could not be loaded. We bought this owl because birds were leaving deposits all over my better half's car on a daily basis. I had my doubts it would work because I did not know that owls ate other birds, and its neck does not look realistic. Its head turns repeatedly in the same direction like no real owl could.Fortunately the birds disagree with my opinion and no longer sit in our tree, so my better half no longer has to wash her car every day. I do not get woken up by birds singing in the early hours of the morning any more either. The item is light-weight and hollow, with a large hole and small hole in the bottom, which I guess you could use to mount it on a pole or tie it down.V

Love this shame about a spring.
I brought an earlier version of this owl in 2015, I brought this to stop my neighbours birds landing on a water feature unfortunately after a couple of days one landed on its head causing it to fall off. When I replaced the head I noticed the tiniest ever looking spring had broken.thus preventing the head to ever rotate again. It has been taking pride and pleasure by the side of a fountain all this time looking very good. We have a robin that daily sits on it, but at least no more pigeons. However it continues to tick each time the head is due to turn , even after all these years the solar panel still charges and the motor still works. How many solar items in your garden still work after that long. Lovely item shame about a tiny little spring.

This thing REALLY WORKS!!
We built a pool with a cascade waterfall in Las Vegas (desert) so we were visited by a couple dozen pigeons and black birds everyday with the accompanying mess. I didn't want the unsightly spikes or sticky goop around the pool so I thought I would try a predator replica. The idea of the solar powered head on a horned owl seemed like a good concept. The owl is about 1 1/2 ft tall, very life-like in looks and size. There is nothing to do to get it started, just remove the tag and stand it in the yard. The slightest light in the morning gets it going and it is active until the last light in the evening. The head always rotates in the same direction (doesn't matter) on intervals that vary from about 15 seconds to about 2-3 minutes. The rotations can be from a partial turn to several complete revolutions. Very unpredictable which adds to the realism. It makes a slight audible click when the rotation starts. I thought this might be an issue by alerting the birds it was about to move but just the opposite occurs. In case the bird might not be looking toward the owl when it starts it's movement the click gets the bird's attention assuring the bird will see it.The first birds to arrive after I put it by the waterfall stopped their dive into the yard to land on a privacy wall around the pool area. There was a lot of head tilting as they checked it out to see if it was real or not. As soon as it moved it's head the birds took off in all directions as fast as they could go. The birds returned to sit on the perimeter wall everyday for a few weeks. Sometimes one brave bird in the flock would land to "test the waters" but as soon as the head turned they all scrammed like somebody fired a load of buckshot at them.. The test visits came less and less frequent until, after a couple months, they stopped altogether. We have not had ANY birds in the yard this entire summer even though I can see them in the neighbors' yards.I did not mount it on a stake as the instructions suggests. Instead I filled it with about 10 lbs of sand through an opening in the bottom to give it some weight. This allowed me to move it to different parts of the yard every so often. I did move it a couple times a week at first but have found that now that the birds are convinced it's real I only move it once a month or so.The problem birds that I had to deal with in my neighborhood were pigeons, crows, and blackbirds. They have NEVER returned to the water and stopped flying over the house after the first few weeks.A great item.

Scares the Crows!
The media could not be loaded. Watch halfway through the video to see a crow sharply change direction mid-flight.This owl is fantastic at scaring the crows away. It scares me too! But it works. It's horrible crow season right now. They get at the trash, the garden ... and they even dive bombed into my backyard to steal food off my 3-year old daughter's plate! I've bought a few different things to scare them off, and this Owl is the best of the bunch. No batteries to buy or tabs to pull out or anything - works straight out of the box - just take the sticker off the solar panel. It makes a clicking noise when the head turns. That's fine and maybe even desirable.Anyway, in the video here you can see the motion in action. You can also see a crow switch direction mid flight. It may not be obvious in this video based on the angle and the moment where the crow comes into view, but I was there in person - the crow was heading straight towards the wires over my house and turned right around when it clearly could have seen the owl. I'm not saying that just based on this video - I've seen it repeatedly.Right now I have the owl sitting on an (unfinished) post on my front steps. It's not screwed in or anything, but it's pretty stable. It works well being so high up. I may actually finish off that post so that the owl has a more permanent perch. It's just that effective and awesome.

SAVE YOUR MONEY
Worked at first. Birds were very cautious. Would only feed in neighboring yards, stopping to look carefully at the owl and coming no closer. After about 6 days the birds and ribbits to caught on. Robins started nesting over it. A few minutes ago I just saw a rabbit eating my flowers right in front of it. I did follow the instructions, positioning in a prominent spot and moving every few days.
