Midwest Hearth Lava Rock for Fire Pits and Gas Log Sets, Black 5/8" to 1-1/2" (10-lb Bag)

Perfect size rocks for my large outdoor fireplace. I'm ordering another bag to fill in the very back.

I got this for aquarium use. It's doing well in a shrimp bowl, I added them a month or two ago and the shrimp and snails are healthy and so are the plants I tied to the stones. There is a good range of different sizes in the bag, including a lot of large chunks, like bigger than 2", and a lot of 1" chunks too. This bag will last me years.

More than we needed for our small gas fireplace but hides the burner from the front.

Just finished converting my woodburning fireplace ,to liquid propane gas. The the lava rock helped finish off this project, It blends in nicely with the dark base, there was some moisture in the rock, which they do warn you of this in the packaging, Just let it air out and dry before you get any hot flames near the rock. This was a 10 pound bag surrounding 18 inch log set. I would purchase again ,very happy with the product.

We used a 19in pan, painted it with high heat paint, and then used 20lbs of lava rock to fill pan to this effect. The rocks were a variety of sizes, I definitely would not want to go smaller, and 2 bags filled the pan in nicely. Yes, there is some dust and small bits, but it is lava rock and will naturally break up somewhat in processing. After the fire is off, rocks still stayed warm for a bit afterwards. (Enough to still roast marshmallows haha!) Worked very well for us overall!

The rocks worked great to help spread out the flame coming from the bottom of our propane fireplace.

Beware..... Very small bag that didn't weigh 10lbs. 1 bag really covers a very very small area.

Used to add more rocks to the firepit. Like the size and price for helping add to existing rocks.

Incase like me it is important that it is black you should know that this is not all black. Rusty and even bright orange colours are in there too. At best 60% is black. The cost of black vs brown/orange is the issue. If you pay £35 for black you expect black. Photo in white box is this product. The photo in the bag is what it should be. BLACK.
