Nice to look at, does the job, but?
Well apart from it being listed as “cast iron” and also on the box and instruction, nothing could be further from the truth, as it is made from resin to look like cast iron, that said it’s not bad for the money really, on the good side it should be pretty weather resistant, it’s heavy enough and comes with adaptors for the different size parasol poles. Good quality, although I would use a larger washer on the underside when fixing the tube on, because when the hole has been drilled in the base it has split some of the resin when the drill has broken through and left an uneven surface for the supplied washer to fit on so a larger washer is needed in my opinion as an engineer. Maybe more time and care taken when drilling would alleviate this problem. All In all a good product at a good price and yes I have been a bit picky but it is a problem that could cause further cracking of the base if not remedied before tightening up the tube. Would I but it again? Well yes I would it’s a nice base that does the job, even though it’s not cast iron as listed.

Not at the DIYs
Needed a base for a patio umbrella Went to the local DIY Didn’t want a plastic base that took sand or water and the selection was only plastic bases so I tried Amazon (which I should have looked at first) They offered a choice quality bases (just what I wanted) and at keen prices Selected this one. Price was right. Design was right. It arrived next day Excellent Thanks Strong metal base with good design finish. EXCELLENT PRICE AND SERVICE

Great looking stand.
This is a very sturdy good looking stand. However I had to shave the inside of the plastic figment to get the pole to fit not sure who is at fault. Stand of pole. Be prepared to make minor adjustments with a sharp knife or file.

Sturdy and perfect for the right environment
Sturdy base, made from resin, with a metal parasol housing. Someone did mention you may need a wider washer, mine was beautifully done, so didn't need a wider one. Now, this is a 9.5 Kg base, so by itself, a stronger wind will take your parasol down. I have it through a hole in the garden table as well, though, so it's quite sturdy in it's place. Equally I wouldn't test the opened parasol in a strong wind storm. So, all in all, for it's price and my needs, I would say it's a great price/quality product.

Positive with niggles
Love the look and the weight Not easy to put together as it says it is . I cut finger while putting together as it's sharp edges .this is a great item but needs a little patience.

Heavy Base, Good Quality.
Been after one of these since I got the Asda furniture set, it’s sturdy good quality and quite easy to put together. Just so you know the fitting instructions there isn’t any step by step like Lego it’s more one page and a blueprint of what’s there and just look at the picture. The only thing your need is a spanner size no. 16 I think & then hold with one hand and turn with the other. Just be careful not to cross thread as it should screw on easy. The part that rattles inside the tube is ok to leave as that part serves as the part where the pole holds at the bottom. Basically that’s it, no need to over tighten the bolt as your get an idea if there’s movement & also to mention be careful when lifting it as if say the pole did come loose the base might hurt your foot.
