Review Up Your Cooking
Mushrooms are okay, but these make Chinese cuisine that much better. If you like Chinese food, rev it up a bit with these mushrooms. DELICIOUS!

Excellent quality and flavor at an excellent price.
I love having shiitake mushrooms in my pantry . Mushrooms have a very short shelf life as fresh but as dried, keep for years, not that a bag of these lovely mushrooms ever last long in our kitchen. Excellent flavor. Soak in hot water for thirty minutes to plump them up for stir fry and casseroles. . Add dried directly to soups and stews at the beginning of the cooking process to simmer in the rich full body flavor to the dish. I remove the stems from large ones due to the tough nature of mature mushrooms. Put the stems and the soak water in the blender and process till smooth. Add the processed stems to your stew or dish and it will thicken and increase the depth of flavor without the toughness of the mature mushroom stems. No waste. I have purchased from this supplier for a while now and every bag is quality. Buy with confidence.

Great deal for the money!
They were easy to re-hydrate, minced well in the mini cuisinart, cooked up perfectly for their intended use working well in the dumplings. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the odor, and although they are mushrooms, and some odor is expected, the kitchen smelled like mushrooms for 2 days after use. Overall, thogh, well worth what paid for!

Great flavor, Great value
These are great mushrooms, similar sized, well cleaned, an incredible value and incredibly versatile. I use them in soups, stocks, stews, and stir-fries. Yes, you have to soak them (steep them?) in hot water for a while but you end up with tender, flavorful mushrooms and a flavorful broth which strains cleanly. One pound is a lot! It saves you trips to the store to buy 'fresh' mushrooms, saves you money and provides so much more, including convenience. I highly recommend these and will definitely buy more and some of their other varieties.

I put in a spice mill, turn it into a powder, and add it to recipes.

TOXIC CHINESE-GROWN MUSHROOMS
Upon opening, the chemical odor these mushrooms made it clear there is something wrong. On every single bag I ordered from this company I ordered, the amazon label had been VERY CONVENIENTLY placed on top of the place of origin. Shining a bright light through it showed that every single variety I purchased from this company was grown in china (PRC)! I have extreme doubts on their claims that any of their mushrooms are from japan or korea. DO NOT EAT THESE. China is notorious for extremely unsafe mushroom growing practices- we're talking contaminatiom with sulfur dioxide (likely the cause of odor, and makes food rubbery + decimates any nutritional benefits), arsenic, heavy metals, and other industrial/waste contaminants. Nearly every non-poisonous mushroom incident in the US that has resulted in hospitalization or DEATH has been traced back to mushrooms grown in China.

The stem stays really tough
I have made 4 or 5 servings with these mushrooms and the stem never gets soft enough to chew. If I make soups I have to grind them in my food processor. To use large pieces you have to cut the stem completely out. They have very good flavor so they are worth the extra work.
