I am very happy and pleased with this educational book. This is really a great book.

Great instructional book. Valuable to anyone studying bass.

This is a good method to get acquainted with various jazz styles on bass. However, you will not learn them in any kind of depth. The most interesting parts are the sections on form, starts, endings, etc. After I bought this, I picked a walking bass method to really learn that style.

Ed is the master!

If you are interested in playing jazz bass, this may be the only bookyou will need!

Much less substance than I expected. I don't need a book to tell me how to behave at a jam session.

Un ottimo punto di partenza per avvicinarsi al linguaggio jazz.Basi molto ben fatte e stimoli stilistici continui, necessita di nozioni riguardanti la lettura anche se essendo un libro che parte dalle basi, con un po' di pazienza si arriva a leggere tutto.Consigliato anche come metodo di insegnamento.

This book gives a really good introduction to the theory of playing jazz bass. It does assume quite a good level of musical understanding, and that's my first caveat. The second is that it covers a lot of the same ground as other books he's written.But if you need help with understanding how to play jazz bass, this is a great book!
