Handy and easy to make.
These are quite handy. My teenager who is constantly hungry like porridge but tends to make a mess and use up all the milk. This is very easy, pour the oats into a mug, cover in boiling water and stir, top up till it’s the consistency you like. It has powdered milk in so it doesn’t taste like water made porridge, not quite as good ass milk made but fine. I wish they had a golden syrup version as it’s a bit bland so my teen tends to load it up with sugar or syrup if I’m not looking but handy to have in for a slow energy releasing snack.

Confirmed Connoisseur
It is almost 70 years since I first cooked porridge (porage?) at a scout camp, it remains my favourite breakfast item – and one I can always perfect even though my tea may be stewed, my toast burnt, eggs too runny etc. Over the years I have been confirmed a connoisseur by my parents, siblings, wife, children, grandchildren, visitors etc. However I am beginning to find cooking a bit of a drag (same for saucepan cleaning), and these ‘Quaker Oats Sachets’ appeared to offer an answer – but no! I have tried the porridge and had family and friends sample it. The general reaction is that taste is rather raw, texture is cloying, procedure for making is a bit of a bind, and it’s not particularly time-saving. So sorry – 2 star rating at best.

Excellent porridge
This original flavour Oat So Simple is easy to make and really tasty. It's simply a case of putting the contents of the sachet in a bowl or cup, adding milk (which you measure by filling the sachet up to a given line), stirring and then microwaving. Perfect porridge every time, tastes nice, and this original porridge is literally just oats with nothing added, so is really healthy. Excellent.

Convenient, but a bit bland
This is certainly convenient – just add boiling water to cover, stir, leave for one minute and add more water for your desired consistency. Other than milk powder (so you don't need to add any milk), each sachet contains only rolled oats. Each sachet makes a decent mugful. The taste is okay, but is a bit bland for my liking -- I prefer my porridge a bit more “oaty” -- and the porridge texture is a bit too floury.Tip: when you add the first water, add just enough to cover the porridge, then stir. If you add too much water straight away, you will end up with lumps.
