This book was a required text for one of my theory classes in my master's program. A great read for the serious student of dramaturgy, theatre history, or theater theory. Wouldn't be a pleasant read for a casual fan of the theatre or the actor who wants to focus solely on craft.

I used this book for a graduate theatre history class. I found that it was a great compilation of the best minds of theatre arts.

Great intros to each text make the book very accessible. Great excerpts. Just a great book for those interested in theater theory. Provides not just western theory, but theory from all over the world.
