Ethique Purple Conditioner Bar for toning brassy hair - Plastic-Free, Cruelty-Free, Vegan, 2.12 oz - Formerly Tone it Down

This is the review I wrote for the frizz ease shampoo bar: "I was so excited to try this shampoo after reading the reviews and doing loads of research. I was worried that it was too good to be true, but it is indeed as good, if not better than everyone says. I got the frizz ease bar and it is amazing. My hair is so much less frizzy in the humid climate, I live 6 blocks from the ocean. I also have noticed significantly less hairloss during my showers and on my hair brushes. I was amazed at that! It lathers so well too. I used more swipes down my hair than some say, I do 3 on top of my head, and then one under around my neck, and 1-2 down the length of my hair. My hair is down to my lower back though so I need a bit more. My husband even started using it and loves it too! He used to use head and shoulders and actually prefers this to manage his dandruff and it doesn't make his scalp itchy after one day without a shower like H&S used to. I can not say enough good things about this shampoo bar. Compostable packaging, no plastic waste, wonderful smells, and amazing results. I am sold for life! I would definitely recommend pairing with the conditioner bar. When I first washed with the shampoo bar it made my hair feel kinda weird, not quite sticky, but as soon as I did the conditioner bar that feeling was completely gone. My hair looks amazing without any product when it dries and I will be continuing to buy this product for the foreseeable future! " With regard to the Normal-Dry Hair, Guardian conditioner bar, I am in love too. It is amazing, smells good, and paired with the shampoo bar has made my hair feel amazingly soft, less frizz, and less hair loss. I don't even use product half the time because it makes my hair so smooth. Just an FYI for those not paying closer attention, the conditioner bar is smaller than the shampoo bar, but it looks like it will last just as long, maybe even longer than my shampoo bar. I do 3 swipes down the top of my head, one under by my neck, and two down the length of my hair (long hair). My husband uses it too and loves the way it makes his hair feel and keeps his scalp from itching. We are in love with these Ethique products!

The Good: 1. A little goes a long ways. After one month of use this bar looks like it’s the same exact size to me lol! This thing really lasts!! 2. $18 seems like a lot to spend on conditioner but considering we can’t tell if it’s changed in size after one month; that means the price point is actually really good! 3. It does a good job. 4. It smells absolutely amazing! 5. I’ve had no issues with this conditioner bar. The Bad: 1. When you first use it in the shower you can’t tell if it’s working or not lol. I conditioned my hair several times before deciding to give up and see what happens when it dries lol. I’ve used my ethique shampoo with conditioner and without and the bar does work. It does condition. it’s very unique though, and takes some adjusting. 2. Ethique shampoo bar is so good that I rarely have to use my conditioner bar. I notice a difference in my hair after. My hair is less frizzy when I use this bar. It’s not a necessary purchase because of this but I do love my conditioner bar regardless.... but... My hair is silky smooth, healthy, Shiny and is amazing both with and without the conditioner honestly. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 3. Most of the negative reviews that I read were about the bars not lasting. $18 a month on conditioner was not going to be a feasible monthly buy for me. I have a corner shelf in my shower that is away from direct water but does not protect the bars from moisture. We’ve been using our bars for a month. (two adults using it every other day to every three days). In my opinion it looks like it did when I just took it out of the box lol. But.., I can see how this would be frustrating for people who doesn’t have a corner shelf, don’t want to buy the bar storage containers, can’t afford them, or anyone that just can’t deal with idea of moving the bars in and out of the shower with every use. 4. I use this bar the guardian conditioner, with heali kewi. For whatever reason my hair takes almost twice as long to dry sense I’ve switched to ethique. It may be my hair type but I can see how this could be problematic for others. Especially people with very curly hair. If you are concerned about this I recommend getting their sample pack.... although paying $16 for samples that you don’t know if you’ll like or not is a bit much in my opinion. I have seen a lot of amazing reviews from very curly haired people for the sweet and spicy ethique bar. The salt is supposed to be helpful. Since my curl pattern is restoring I do plan on trying that bar next, myself. I have washed my hair with just their shampoo bar(heali kewi) without the conditioner bar and it took a little bit longer to dry but not much longer. In my opinion if you have curly hair and need it to dry quickly this may be an issue for you. this product may not make you happy. 5. Because this product restores curling patterns on some people and causes tighter bouncier curls for other people who are trying to tame their curls this may be problematic. Helpful info: the pic is of the bars after one month of use. The conditioner Bar comes out about half the size of the shampoo bar if not 1/3 but it also has not been used up in my opinion nearly at all. It’s the same size as far as I can tell from when I opened it! It has even kept its perfect shape compared to the shampoo bar that you can more easily tell has been used!

Better than average solid conditioner! While I have yet to try any solid bar conditioner that I quite like as much as liquid conditioner, this comes close and is something I’ll definitely keep using for carry on only travel. It works best if you kind of wrap your hair around it to apply, and though it doesn’t feel like much product has applied, you can feel the softness once rinsing. Didn’t leave my hair dry at all.

I was looking for solids mainly to avoid bringing liquids on my flight - this was great for that! Furthermore, I use it regularly because the purple works well for toning my chestnut/brondy color. My hair color was a oops, but using this to help tone down the bronze is really nice. Lightweight, easy to travel with, smells great, strong solid that hasn't broken in half after many many uses, and my hair feels great after! It has a little divot for your thumb to hold on, so it's very functional. I will likely repurchase for travel especially

I'm not one to write a lot of reviews, but I felt obligated to publicly praise this product. I'm a person who enjoys rigorously A/B testing every product in my bathroom, but after trying ethique, I feel no need to ever buy another conditioner. I have some very strict requirements, and this bar performs better than I ever expected across each bullet: * it's a great price for how long it lasts * it comes in zero-waste packaging (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) * it's super easy to use despite being a bar - it's not crumbly and it doesn't melt * it's chemical free and all ingredients score low on the EWG database * it's suds free so it doesn't hurt the environment * it nourishes my dry, brittle ends without being greasy or oily * it doesn't contain apple cider vinegar (b/c that ingredient actually damages your hair over time) I have really dry ends because I used to color my hair, but I also have a fairly greasy scalp. This conditioner has made my hair so unbelievable soft without exacerbating the oil issue. I went to my hairdresser and she immediately noticed a difference in the texture of my hair and remarked on how healthy it felt and looked. This has never happened to me before. I felt like a hair champion. Some tips while using (although this conditioner is stupid simple to use): - store in a container so the bar can dry out between usages. I have a little jar with a screw-on lid on the side of my tub, and the bar lives in there - don't be fooled by the small size of the bar! Yes, it's small but it lasts forever - if you have oily hair and you're nervous about using the bar, instead of rubbing the bar directly on your hair, just swipe it once across your palm and apply the product manually. You can always build up with another layer if you feel like you didn't get enough - finally, once you are converted and realize this is the best conditioner you've ever used, buy in bulk directly from the company so that you ship only once using eco-friendly packing materials! Woo!

I like this unscented bar soap and really wanted to love it. However, my hair is somewhat fragile and the rubbing action required to put it in my hair caused more hair loss, not less. My hair is happier since I stopped using.

Really like this shampoo and conditioner. At first I didn’t really know how to apply it so I just started rubbing it on my head and down my very long hair. Quickly I was able to notice it working and I completely detangle my hair in the shower now making brushing it much easier when I get out of the shower! Highly recommend this and the shampoo!

I love this company and conditioner. I use the shampoo as well. It doesn't weigh down my hair and makes it feel soft and light. Its effective on moisturizing and the size fits in my hand. The shampoo does the same when pairing the 2 together. The shampoo builds a good lather after a couple swipes through the hair. The conditioner can be used for shaving too if needed. Less plastic use and still does the job..
