What prevents the cable from getting caught in the door or hanging out the opening between door and frame (keeps it inside) ?

The cable is coated, which keeps it almost horizontal when it is partially or fully closed. Per the directions, the end that attaches to the door should be tight, and the end that attaches to the cabinet should be slightly loose to allow it to spin.

Hello, the fifth product photo in the listing shows a green dot on the EDGE of the bottom face frame where it can be installed as well. I've installed many of these on that edge with no problem. If you are asking whether they can be installed on the FACE of the face fame, I would not recommend that. Thanks so much for your question.
