I’m currently in a 2-story rental unit and unfortunately the 2nd floor doesn’t get good cooling. I invested in this portable AC unit and my rooms have stayed much cooler since then! It is a little on the louder side, but I’ve gotten used to the noise since then. I’ve had to drain the water only once since getting it, and that was after about a month and a half of on-and-off use (I only got about a cup of water out of it). The size isn’t too bad either, about standard for an ac unit. It was pretty simple to install, although the directions could get a little confusing at first. It keeps me cool and functions as advertised!

Works fabulously! Keeps my small office cool in the hot summer months. Good value. Has a remote and can link to cell phone as well.

I got this because my condo assoc. doesn't allow in-window units and this looked like the best deal for the money. So far works pretty well. Couple of caveats: there isn't an internal water storage (or at least no much of one)so you'll need to use the included hose and drain into a bucket. If humid it will produce a lot of water so you will need to watch or get a big bucket. Once the humidity is under control, it's not so bad. I have a shower without a tub so I might get a hose to drain directly into the shower drain so I don't have to worry about it while sleeping. The other thing you need is a cover for the vent hose, it generates a lot of heat, which competes with the cooling. Don't get the one recommended by Amazon - it doesn't fit. I got the Gulrear Portable AC Hose Insulation Sleeve a/c Hose Cover with Dual Zipper Insulated Wrap Sleeve Universal AC Hose Duct Vent Hose Covers fit 5.1/5.9" Diameter. It fits nicely and really insulates agains the heat from the vent hose.

Our building provides the AC for the apartment but it does not come on until May 15 and goes off Sept 30 and even here in the Northeast, that leaves all of October and late April and early May as too hot. We wanted a portable air conditioner with the smallest footprint that we could just leave in the living room (without the hose and window treatment) when not in use. This Midea portable air conditioner is the smallest footprint we could find out there, basically a 1 foot square box. When not in use, since we have limited closet space, we plan to put on a white cover and a plant and leave it in the corner of the living room. (without hose and window kit of course) It was very easy to assemble. The hose and fittings snap in place easily. They are not the thickest grade plastic so the hose and fittings will require gentle treatment when installing and re-installing each season. You get plenty of window kit planks so it will fit any window configuration. I had it up and running in less than 10 minutes. I used gaffers tape to make the air tight fit in the window so I could remove the window kit and hose assembly easily and often. Now to the cooling: the cold air flow is excellent. The first time we used it the 10,000 BTU model set at 70 degrees, cooled down a 400 square foot room from 77 to 70 degrees in less than half an hour. It is also fairly quiet for a portable air conditioner. So, I recommend this product, especially for the price and the small footprint.

First item I received was used, dirty, and a broken wheel. I'm guessing someone returned it, and they resold it at Amazon or the seller or whatever. I had to return that. Annoying. Second one received appeared new. I like the design of the unit, got it installed and everything works EXCEPT the AC barely gets cold. It gets somewhat cold for a bit, but nothing like a regular AC. And then even when it's NOT on auto it turns off the AC often and it's just running the fan. I don't know if it's trying to recharge, take a break, or if it's thinking it reached the temperature. I put the temperature on lowest it can go which is 60, and then put the fan on high. And it still turns off all the time. Way too frequently. And like I said, it barely even gets cold. My TCL window unit did WAY better than this. This is a poorly designed poor excuse for an AC. Waste of time.
