How to Tan Animal Hides and How to Make High Quality Buckskin Clothing

I already knew how to tan hides since I do taxidermy and tan deer and alligator hides but got this book to learn more about buckskin and making clothing and it did teach me many things that I thought I knew but was actually wrong about. I naturally done my own research and fact checked these things and I was wrong. So I think it is a great book.

This is one of the most comprehensive books we have ever seen. It is easily understandable, very precise and has tons of useful information. If you have ever tanned a hide or doing it for the first time, this book is a must have. My husband was very pleased and has read and reread this book sharing all the wisdom it offers with me. Thanks to the author.

Simple enough that even someone with no experience in tanning could follow Mr. Atkins directions, and end up with some nice buckskin.

As with his other material. It is a straight forward and clearly written resource. I like the way it reads and am fascinated by how to do things before we had manufactures doing things for us.

I am new to hunting and want to learn how to utilize the whole animal when harvested. There is so much information in this book and I'm making plans to follow the steps for tanning and building the smoker. A great investment and reference to have.

Great information for the future

Giving it a 3 simply cause I’ve only read it, haven’t tried anything so I’m not sure how honest the information is. I’d like to believe it’s bang on but I’ve learned that anyone can publish anything and say it’s true. It’s simple, descriptive and really shouldn’t leave you scratching your head. Definitely a great intro book
