this is a quality ceramic insulator that will work very well in my homemade forge builds. Initially I was looking for 2600F blanket in 2" thinkness, but for the price and quantity (50 feet) this was not to be passed up. Now that I have it, I'm liking the one inch thickness better as it will be much easier to control the thickness of the build. More then enough here to make both a propane fired foundry and an electric foundry and still have some left over for repairs when needed. There are a lot of YouTube videos showing people building metal melting furnaces, very few take advantage of the properties of ceramic fiber blankets and practically none of them treated their insulating surfaces. If you are just looking to melt some copper or aluminum once or twice that's fine, but if you are trying to make your furnace last for as many firings as possible don't forget to invest in some good quality coatings like ITC 100HT and 296A. Your furnace will thank you for added life, your heat source will thank you with less being used, and your metals will thank you for less contamination

Used it in a home made propain gorge. This stuff works vary good.

This did the trick. I made a big break down furnace to melt down big aluminum parts and was having a hard time melting them down. Added this blanket around the outside of the furnace and within 2 hours I had melted down over 200lbs of aluminum.
