Very informative and easy to read
I bought this book after reading Investing for Dummies from the same author. The investing book is quite literally one of the best books I have ever read. So I decided to get this one as well. For someone familiar with PF this can be a bit basic. I feel like some sections are meant for people just starting their life (college students), so I ended up skipping those. But some other sections are of great value (home owning, investing, etc.). And that's the great thing about these books, you can jump from one chapter to another anywhere in the book without having to fear you will be missing information. Just go and read the topic that really interests you.One last advice though, if your only focus is to learn more about investing in terms of personal finance, I would rather recommend the Investing for Dummies, as it is much more comprehensive; the investing section in PF for Dummies is kind of a summary of that book.

Simple and to the point
This book explains all of the basics in great enough detail to provide a rudimentary understanding of personal finance and help a novice become financially literate. It doesn't get too bogged down with the intricacies of certain types/subdisciplines of finance, and sticks to what the average Joe needs to know!

Excellent book for dummies and not dummies
Recently bought this book for a friend who is going through financial difficulties.I originally bought my copy about 20-years ago. This is an updated revision of that book.It helped me get my financial house in order, stay out of debt, build rainy day savings and retirement savings, and to fund college for my kids.It is not a "how to become a millionaire" book, but a straightforward guide to understanding personal finances and how to make the best of what you earn. So expectations should be along those lines.Highly recommended for younger people because you do best by starting early and following Eric's advise.

Does the job
This was a required book for my daughter's high school Intro to Personal Finance Class. It explains personal finance in simple terms and it's very easy to read. It certainly gets the job done.

Great for Beginners
Wonderful starter book for people who are truly novices with personal finance like myself. Great starter book.

Used as the textbook for my personal finance class
This book gave sound, solid advice with resources to look up your credit score and fix errors for free. This made getting set up for the future and success easy and SIMPLE. Personal finance is not hard, it was just made to seem that way so people would think they can't get started without a degree. Not So.

Better as a physical book.
I find this sort of book to work better as an actual book, and not an e-book. E-books are not conducive for people who are looking to skip ahead to chapters that they find most relevant.
