National Hardware S825-968 8023 Spring Door Stops in Nickel , 3"
R**K
Four Pieces make up this Object
This comes apart in four pieces.1. A screw2. The ring closest to the wall (which the spring screws into, similar to how you put a key on a keyring)3. The spring (FYI... it is springy, not solid like some other door stops are)4. The white capI do not feel that part #2 and part #3 will stay together that long without coming apart. My guess is that this will last a year or two and then I will be looking to replace it again because of how these parts connect. A far better design would be at least one fewer part. In fact, the one I replaced only had two parts... the white cap and all the rest. The only reason I replaced it is because the white cap broke off and I couldn't find a new one.So far, it looks nice though and does the trick. But I would not purchase this item again.Shipping was quick, packing was quick, etc.

How to install
I received the door stopper and a screw; manufacturer included no instructions (therefore minus 1 star). I like brain-teasers and this one took me a while to figure out. Reviews say it’s easy to install but only if you know how.Instructions:• Remove metal cap by un-threading it from the spring coil• Put screw through center hole of metal cap• Screw into wall or door• Re-thread stopper by feeding the end of the spring coil into the small hole on the side of the metal cap.

Classy product, easy to install, high price
I have 2 small kids who have destroyed the original door stops that came with my house. They've taken the white ends off, and twisted up the main part beyond repair. I ordered just 2 of these to try them out, and was very satisfied. They feel very substantial, and have a sophisticated look. I like how the back part is wider than the front. I'm not sure if that design is for asthetics or has a functional purpose but it may make it more difficult for my kids to twist around and ruin. I installed these myself in seconds. 5 Stars for Quality and Design.I knocked down my rating due to price. I want to fit my whole house with this exact door stop, but found the same thing significantly cheaper at Home Depot ($1.50 ea, I think). If you just need 1 or 2, Amazon is great, but for larger quantities, it adds up.

Good for thick baseboards.
We recently replaced the baseboards in our house. I accidentally bought these 3" doorstops as replacements. Previously our doorstops were the standard 4" length. After installation of the first one, I realized 3" was better for us, because the door fits flatter against the wall. WARNING- you must measure how far your doorknob sticks out from the door, then subtract the width of the baseboard to make sure there is still enough clearance from the wall. The purpose of a door stop is to prevent damage to walls by the door knob. It doesn't do any good to install a doorstop that still allows the door knob to hit the wall.

Do what they are supposed to do
I purchased these to replace some of the old, gross ones in my house. These are very clean and do what they are supposed to do. However, be warned that they are not very giving and the door hits them really hard when opened. They haven't left any holes yet but I can definitely hear when the door hits them. I am hoping they loosen up with time. Overall, for the price, they are worth it.

Nice looking, good price
The quality of these doorstops is excellent. I shopped at a local big box home improvement store and found the equivalent door stop selling for much more.I recently changed all of my door knobs to satin nickel and installed these to replace the old brass door stops. For the most part I was able to use the existing holes but there were a few holes that were damaged so I had to move the door stop over a bit. My baseboards are pine so I didn't need to drill a pilot hole but if you're dealing with a harder wood you may have to.They went in easy and the 3" length was perfect.

Wish it had instructions, but I'm not exactly a hardware genius.
Ok, when you get this, hold onto the flat part at the back and start to turn the middle wire part. Eventually the wire will come free of the plate and allow you to then screw the plate to the wall using the included screw. Then you sit the wire part back on the plate and start to turn it again and the end of the wire will slide onto the plate. Took me a few to figure that out, but once together, it looks very nice and seems good and sturdy.

Doorstops Much Too Short For Many Uses
I chose the Satin Nickel style of this doorstop because it's specifications stated 6.62 inches in length. The ones I received were only 2.87 inches in length. I know these come in different lengths because my local hardware store does have two different lengths (3" and 4") available...just not long enough for my needs. My old ones are about 6 inches, which are fine to allow for behind-the-door towel racks and my larger locking door handles. I just wanted to update my older doorstops for a fresh look. Also, the 3 inch doorstop at my local hardware store is actually $2.99, a dollar less than here on Amazon. I was willing to pay more for the longer doorstops. I was very disappointed to receive these short doorstops. As for the look and quality of these doorstops, they are among the best...long lasting and durable. As for my old doorstops, I now soaked them clean and quite nice again. Again, this is a testament as to the quality and longevity of this type doorstop...I just don't like expecting one based on description and receiving another considerably different.
