RMP Knife Blade Steel - High Carbon Annealed, 1095 Knife Making Billets, 3 Inch x 12 Inch x 0.187 Inch (± 1/16)

I've made a cleaver out of this steel, and I'm impressed. It was relatively easy to heat treat with a forge and some water. The camping cleaver i made hacks through 1" branches with ease. It's my favorite steel so far.

Steel is great. No problems. Actually wish seller had a hat for sale though. I like hats. Rose Metal Products. Make a hat. Put a rose on it. Sell it to me.

The steel is high quality and this is the second project working with it. The edges are very hard to get through because they edge ground them or something to size after annealing. You will have to soften the edge before cutting in or you might damage a blade. In fact I've damaged two blades over three small projects. Still a great product, I just lack the knowledge on how to soften just that millimeter of hardness before getting it in the portable bandsaw.

Good quality steel and I made a dagger out of half of it.

I have ordered multiple pieces of steel from this company and have not had any issues. I have seen comments saying its hard to work or not annealed. I took a butane torch to this peice for about 5 minutes until you get a nice blue color on the metal. Let the metal air cool and you should be right as rain. My 1/4 inch drill bits went right through with no screaming and my metal band saw ripped right through it as well. Good stuff.

It was ok, however it was by no means “ annealed“.

Love the steel. I found it funny the company the steel comes from is about 30 minutes from my house. Didn’t know they existed.

Always comes in brand new fresh, clean, and straight. Heat treats well. Thanks!

The order arrived almost a week early and I could track it all the way. The billet is spot on for dimensions. I'm very happy with the order / vendor.
