Picky Peggy (Science Solves It!)

This actually got my kids to LISTEN!
The way the book draws you in to care about the baby chic is perfect. It took the focus off what the kids were doing to their bodies, and put it on the care of the chic. As a mother of 2 picky eaters and a School Nurse, I absolutely love this book!

Fantastic Book!
This book is fantastic! My kids were very interested and identified with Picky Peggy:) I would recommend for not only picky eaters but also to start conversations around healthy eating.

Healthy eating
Oh, the poor ducky. Picky Peggy notices that her new duckling LOVES the bread crumbs she gives him, so she loads him up every day. After all, it's his favorite food! But the new ducky loses his fluffy feathers and perky personality on such a bad diet, and when Peggy takes the duckling back to the farm to play with the other ducklings for a day, she notices HER duckling is decidedly less active and happy. The farmer convinces Peggy to feed the duckling a proper ducky diet, including vegetables. Peggy herself decides to try a healthier diet.Great illustrations, nice family intersctions, great farmer, and a non-bossy approach to eating healthy food. Activity at the back to emphasize the scientific process of inferring. Great book.

great approach for the picky eater
probably best for 4 and above. Gets the idea across that food is important for nutrition and for our bodies to function not just for our mouths to enjoy. The child is put in a position of responsibility so that they think it through and need to do what is best for the pet and then can extrapolate that their parents are doing for them. Cute!

Good teaching aid for health topics
Although some children enjoyed this book, overall a fairly lukewarm reception when i read this to primary school kids in health week, not as good as i hoped it would be, but good for teaching aid to discuss nutrition and why we need to eat healthily ( i get little time to expand on reading material)
