Funny and easy to read about letters .kids loved the pictures.

I love this book and would like to gift it to each child, as it is hilarious! Each alphabet is presented in a unique manner, with amazing illustrations.

I ordered this book because it received 2 starred reviews in review journals and I thought, by the cover, that it was an alphabet book with "beasts" because the cover says "An Alphabeast of a book"....however it wasn't quite what I thought. Pictures are a tad dark and very limited colors. Very unusual in that it's an alphabet book that "takes away" a letter to create a new word. Ie: without the e, bears stay behind bars; without the q, the faqir goes to the fair (what kid knows what a faqir is?), and such. It's clever and cute but a few of the letters stretch the limits. Of course, q, x, and z are always hard letters for alphabet books.

What a cute book. Great for helping children with their phonological awareness skills. The pictures are delightful !

Take Away the A is a fun book and really focuses on the importance of letter placement. It makes chunks/blends more real for students and this book is a fun and easy read!

This book is awesome! My almost five year old granddaughter requests it every time she comes for a visit and has been 'reading' it for about 6 months. It is great for work with the alphabet as well as rhyming. She knows the entire book by heart and can even 'read' the words on the fly page and tell me what the rhyme is in the story. I would recommend it for anyone who has an almost reader. I purchased two additional copies and one has gone to a friend's grandson and the other went home with my grandaughter so she could read to her uncle. Her request!

A clever written book

This is a fabulous book for kids, parents and grandparents. You can make a game out of it, and it helps kids think of other works when you remove a letter.

One of my favourite children's books, brilliantl illustrations guide you through an A to Z with short stories at each character and a few that link together... led me to explore other work by the Author and I wasn't disappointed.

Bought this for our 4 year old niece. It is her FAVOURITE book - she's memorised the entire thing. Have now purchased for a friend's little one as it makes reading and learning really fun.
