Oxford Thesaurus of English 3rd Edition

A great writing tool - YES I KNOW THE INTERNET EXISTS. This is a handsome, fabulous edition that I find myself using way way way more than I ever thought. I don't always want to be online. A must.

Best thesaurus for the money. Only the Historical Thesaurus of the Oxford English Dictionary is better.

I use this book all the time, for all sorts of reasons. The amount of and presentation of each listing is nicely done and helpful. The additional word boxes are also cool. Nice, since I have yet to find a good thesaurus online. And, if the internet did go out or isn't there to begin with, this is nice to have around for every writing crisis.Bought this in a set with the dictionary. This thesaurus' binding is holding up well to my use. The paper thickness and the font is good and I have no problems with it. Doesn't have as much to it as the dictionary does as far as listings, so the size of the font is a bit easier to read. You still get a lot of listings, however, do not despair!

This "Oxford Thesaurus of English" is a great bargain. A great companion to the "Oxford Dictionary of English".I much prefer these additions as opposed to the differently titled "Oxford English Dictionary" "Oxford English Thesaurus".Note: Amazon's listing is inaccurate. This is a complete English language edition.

No need for any other writing supplement.

I recently got a second thesaurus. I have always had a Roget's, which I still do. I like the OED versions of reference books because of the history of usage and the like.

I'm not sure why this page says it's a Spanish-language version of the Oxford thesaurus. It's not. It's English-language. It's very good. I recommend it. But only if you're looking for a good thesaurus in English.

This is the thesaurus to be had.It does not just list alternative words to a certain word; it also marks shades of meanings with the help of illustrative examples.This updated, single volume thesaurus is the best of its kind (as of 2018) in terms of range and size.
