The Rage: Carrie 2 [DVD]

What's all the RAGE about?
I must start off by saying that I'm a huge horror movie fan. I am also a huge fan of the original "Carrie" (1976).As a horror fan, I believe this film delivers in so many ways. I don't believe this film was made to compete or be like the original "Carrie". I think it was made to carry on the story of psychokenesis. To me, this is a well-rounded horror film. You get a good plot, a love story, evil teenagers, modern special effects, and some new gore.I'm not sure why this film is so hated by people, and even fans of the genre. I've heard that people think that the kids sharing a videotape of Rachel having sex at a party would never happen. That teenagers wouldn't do something like, even in this day & age. I'm a little surprised that people buy into teenagers killing a pig, draining the blood, fixing the Prom so that Carrie wins as Queen, and dumping the pig blood over her.I'm glad this film was made. It's a lot of fun to watch, especially when all hell breaks loose at the party! The kills are totally awesome....my personal favorite being that of Rachel Blanchard's character....the female that wears eyeglasses. As a horror fan, there are kills in this film that I haven't actually seen onscreen before.Kudos to Katt Shea for making this highly underrated horror film. Hopefully, someday, the film will become more of a cult classic or true horror gem.Christopher SorickOmaha, Nebraska 2013

To the critics who hate too much...zip it!
Regardless of what most people think, I try to take re-makes and sequels on their own merits, if that's possible. Granted, it isn't always like that. The "Carrie" storyline to me, always has ways of re-inventing itself-Tamara is a good example. Don't get me wrong: I enjoyed both DePalma's version and the TV-remake, but I'm not looking forward to the current up coming remake. Having said that, this sequel continues with the re-invention of a used storyline. Certain parts were funny and over the top, plus you cared about Rachel, her mother, Sue Snell and Jesse. The rest of the charecters were written so well, the bullies primarily-this time, both boys and girls, that even though you know they will get their just deserts, you aren't necessarily sure...how or when. Director Katt Shea, may be better known for female antagonist thrillers, and this film definitely makes me curious about those, as well. Some reviews on here, seem a lot more fair with there opinions than even the expert critics, ha! What else is new?

Better than you'd think!
This is probably one of my favorite unneeded horror sequels of all time. The cast gives it their all, the climax is wonderfully bloody and scary, and it ties in nicely with the original. Definitely give it a try. It is a forgotten gem.

Updated Remake, Not Continuation
This should just have been titled "The Rage" & left off the "Carrie 2" part as most kids these days have never seen the original & it was very misleading. That said, it was a very good movie on it's own & would have had an excellent impact without being billed as a sequel.I was hoping for a continuation of the original, not a VERY loose translation of an updated version.

This an exultant remake of the original
Nothing tops the original Carrie this one comes in a close second. Both films had similar plots. This one didn't have the shower scene but had differant twist to the overt sexual component. I thought it was handled better. Her love for her bo came through in the end.

Not the best but it was okay
I recently bought this movie and saw that most of it's setting was at a high school and high school kids. Not that that's bad but this did make it get uninteresting in some areas but towards the end was a freaky/scary ending where the main character unleashes her telekinetic powers at a party where they were lots of high school kids around that aparked her rage. I've heard from a lot of people that Carrie part 1 is good but I saw it and it was in a 1970s or 80s setting which I didn't like so I wouldn't recommend Carrie part 1.

The Rage: Carrie 2
I saw this movie a long time ago on television and I was instantly hooked. I loved the first one and normally sequels mess it up, but not this time. This is a sequel worth watching. After searching everywhere for a copy of the movie, I finally found it on amazon with an unbeatable price so I had to get it. I recommend it for everyone who is a Carrie fan.

“Why are you so weirdly happy?” [Rachel]
In this 1999 supernatural horror sequel Barbara Lang paints a barrier around her living room to protect her telekinetic daughter, Rachel, from the devil and is institutionalized. Fast forward a few years and Rachel’ best friend, 16 year old Lisa, commits suicide after discovering that Eric only had sex with her due to a bet. Rachel exposes the game and Eric faces statutory rape charges so the boys seek revenge, but have no idea who they are taking on.This makes a number of largely irrelevant passing references to the original film, but you don’t need to see it as this is essentially a stand alone. There are some good ’jumpy’ moments [mainly due to a good musical score] but the feel is overly melancholy and too relaxed taking a while to get to the main story and the start is too drawn out. The other drawback is it gives too much away far to early all the characters are unlikeable, which tends to keep you remote. The single disc loads to a 5 language screen, then goes to main menu offering play, scene selection, language options [spoken: English, Francais, Deutsch, Italiano, Castellano]. Subtitles: most European languages] and special features [directors commentary, deleted scenes with/without commentary, alternate ending, US trailer]. Featuring scenes of suicide and a strong sexist theme, this is not politically correct so may offend some, although there is little swearing there is plenty of innuendo and with no direct nudity [just some male bare buttocks] there are some inexplicit mild sexual scenes. The main problem is it treads the middle ground, failing to be ‘adult’ or horrific enough for a late night 18 audience, but too suggestive for evening viewing. However, despite the flaws it is entertaining –if slow in the second quarter, and still makes ***** viewing.

ANOTHER TEENAGE CLASSIC
I loved this film even though I used to own this on vhs I needed this for my dvd collection. Most people will say it not as good as the first Carrie but its still great and watchable. Completly happy with my purchase.
