Pocahontas

A keeper for those of the Powhatan
We will keep this. It is an older book and the details reflect that. A discussion point with us. Pocahontas was no princess and we view things differently now. Just a 10th great-aunt to us but still relates to State History as well as family genealogy. We were lucky to get it and it arrived as you might guess-promptly even though the hurricane was coming.

Wonderful living book!
I purchased this book for my 6 year old daughter who has an intense interest in American Indians. She wanted to do a lapbook and I found one from homeschoolshare.com to go along with this book.Although not all of the information in the book is true it is a wonderful adventure to read. The illustrations are gorgeous as well. This series of books by these authors are highly recommended to anyone looking for good quality picture books to read to their children.

Every Child should read this in school
This book should be read by every school child, like I did. Only, it was on the bookmobile, my own choice as a little kid at 7 years old, and the art attracted a little reader, me, in the 70's. I later saw this at the gift shop at The book's in the spirit of "The New World" and that little princess reminds me of this one.

Charming book but a bit outdated story line.
Notwithstanding charming illustrations and story telling, the story as portrayed seemed just a bit outdated. I will look for a different interpretation of the POCAHONTAS story for my grandchildren.

but love it is from the perspective of the Americans Indians
Its very wordy. It took us 3-4 days to get through, but love it is from the perspective of the Americans Indians.

An enjoyable read for children (and their moms)
My children and I have enjoyed reading all the d'Aulaire books as part of an elementary American history curriculum. This book is no exception, with the engaging story and beautiful artwork. It is an historical account of Pocahontas, not the Disney version.

Another incredible d'Aulaire storybook.
All of the d'Aulaire's books are awesome! Pocahontas is no exception. The pictures are detailed. The story is engaging. My kids loved listening to it and they spent forever looking at each picture.

Beautiful!
All of the biographical D'Aulaire books are gorgeously illustrated!! My children love to sit with them just to look at the illustrations. The stories inside are well written, and make a great addition to our history curriculum for the lower elementary grades.
