Mostly, this time I needed some rigid shims for adjusting the outfeed table level on an elderly Delta jointer I acquired, but there have been and doubtless will be other times I need a thin shim and don't have any available. This package provided far more shim stock, and an attractive variety of shim thicknesses, than I ever expect to use, at a reasonable price. I may not expect to ever use all of them, but then, I don't expect to ever have to order shim stock, and wait for delivery again, either.

I returned it because I discovered another solution to my problem. But it seemed like a really good value for the money, for someone who can use that much material. Even if I used 10% of it to fix my problem, it would have been a good deal.

There's not much to really say about these. They mic out spot on when measure on my starrett micrometer, and the four sizes packaged together is super convenient. I'm certainly satisfied with these.

I ordered this to tune up my jointer with shim material to get my infeed and outfeed tables to be completely coplanar. The sizes were perfect for what I needed and will work well for this application. The pack comes with .001, .002, .003 and .005" shim stock, per the description. As far as I could tell, the sizes were spot-on accurate, but I didn't actually measure the material, just my results. Although you can find shim stock cheaper elsewhere, with shipping costs, it would be fairly close to the cost of this package and you're getting more than comes in traditional sets at the various wood shop suppliers out there. There's far more material than I'll ever need, since tuning a jointer only takes small amounts of shim material, but maybe it'll come in handy sometime in the future for other applications. One clarification. There's not actually 4 of these boxes, it's one box with four different shim sizes. (Description says pack of 4 and it's not actually 4 of these boxes, just one.) Also, just an FYI, this shim stock comes in a variety of sizes other than this pack. You can find exactly what you need if this size set isn't what you need.

I'm starting my career in machining, and having a plethora of shims to choose from is quite handy. From setting offsets, to shimming tools, parts, fixtures, and more. There's not a shim I can't make. I'll be buying this again for sure!

This is a lot of shim stock for the money. Probably a lifetime supply for me.

If you have a mill or metal lathe you should have this. Many machines require precision shimming to establish perfect axis perpendicularity. Model engineers will find many uses for this shim stock.

All but the .003 size are larger than what they are meant to be when I put the micrometre on them but I guess they are close enough for what I need to use it for. Just for those who need accurate sizes, I would see if there is something else, otherwise they will be close enough for others

I use these a lot at my work on my CNC machines. Love the fact i can cut to whatever size i need.
