Mader, Biology, 2016, 12e (Reinforced Binding) Student Edition (AP BIOLOGY MADER)

Terrible and confusing explanation of transcription and translation (of DNA into RNA, and then RNA into proteins). I found much better and concise explanations describing the above processes on Youtube. Not the greatest textbook, what a pity we are forced to buy it for the course. (Author review: Sylvia Mader) Also, I believe there are factual mistakes in it.In regards to this rental, I was sent a hard copy of the textbook, WITHOUT an access code (which was OK for me, because I knew it). But if you buy thinking there is an access code with it, please know that there is not.

A waste of money. The BSN numbers didn't match and I couldn't use the book. It was the wrong edition. I didn't even want a refund. I simply asked to switch it out and pay the difference if need be. NOTHING! I have this book for sale if anyone wants it!

I quite honestly feel a little duped on this purchase. This is a very expensive book and this was a better price for it when I shopped quite extensively around for the edition I was hoping to buy. When I shopped around I found there were international versions, etc. that were quite a bit cheaper, but I did not want those as I did not know how it would correlate with my son's college class. I wanted the American newer edition of the book. When I opened the book, the book's cover had been totally redone professionally in a plain (no picture) version, in which there was a professionally styled letter stating that "water damage" had occurred and they had the book professionally rebound, of course removing all of the isbn codes and ways to identify the book's edition. I have sold lots of college books and I have never had books professionally redone for water damage. I felt that that was the easy way to sell international or other versions that you could buy at a much cheaper rate for a better price and no one could prove what you had done. Then they threw in earphones for free to make their customers happy. I still feel conned. The book is nice, but probably not the one I ordered. I am not going to order all the editions to find out either which is why I gave them a 3 star rating. I smell something fishy, but have no proof. Just be careful here if you really need a specific edition of this. My son is going to try to find a classmate that would be willing to let him compare texts with them and then we will know the truth. This might be a one time thing & I am the only one to have this happen, but I sort of doubt it!

Best written biology book I have read. My freshman biology course was in 1972 and a career in health sciences made my focus narrow to human biology. This is a great way to get caught up on general biology. It's a beautiful, stimulating, and well-written book with timely reviews in each chapter to consolidate what students of Biology wish to know. Only reading a few chapter per week to make the book last. Why hurry through a gourmet meal? Wish we had books like this back then instead of walls of text. Happy that teaching sciences have progressed along with technological sciences. Congratulations to all the contributors.

Came like new! No markings, pages were crisp and still had that new book smell!

Covers all the necessary information in Biology. I am still reading it. Very informative.

Be aware that this book may be missing chunks of pages with vital information - mine is missing parts of the appendix answer key which is supposed to be able to help someone, very frustrated!!

It is the textbook required by college to learn fundamentals of biology. Beautifully illustrated. Questions after each chapter help solidify what you covered. A good reference to have for the whole family.
