Best staff liner tool (and I tried them all)
I'm a piano teacher and frequently need to write out short melodies. I have tried two types of staff tape, the stamp and the rolling stamp. When you search for staff liners - all of these products will pop up. The tapes worked fine, but it's only 5 meters and for the price (~$11) is just not economical. The rolling stamp has two cons - the distance between lines is way too large and it rolls uneven. The regular stamp cons is that it's too short - so you have to line up several times, which adds bars which you're stuck with and the lines are too far apart. So this pen is literally my 5th attempt at a tool that would work for me. I LOVE it! The distance between lines is perfect. The pens all write equally well (just make sure to doodle first to prime them and to press evenly in a perpendicular motion (i.e., 90 degrees to the paper). I found my tool - finally - after months of searching and spending money on products that don't work. I will be purchasing again when the pens run out.

Great idea, but product was defective
Very disappointed. No matter what I do, I can't get the middle pen to work, and the pens along work only once in a while. Very frustrating if you need to write something down on the spot. I've watched the video, about how you must get the ink to flow by going round and round in circular motion. I have done that so many times, and the pens just remain really, seriously bad (see image). The idea is good, but the execution defeats the purpose.

Writes really well
Great product! There are so many bad reviews on here, mentioning not all pens write at once or that it was meager packaging or whatever. But this product is actually really good. All you have to do is prime the pen just like any other, just scribble around for a bit and it works great. They recommend using it on a flat surface, and I would totally concur. Using it on a flat surface is going to give you the best results by far. The only issue I had with it was that the glue holding the eraser on didn’t stick well to the plastic, so it fell off pretty quick, but I have other erasers so it really doesn’t matter. Please buy this product if you’re considering. It is worth your money.

Worked great, at first...
Kind of ingenious, but also kind of disappointed. The concept is incredible, and it worked great for the first week or so. Then the pens started drying up and became difficult to draw consistent staff-lines. I had to then go over it a couple times, but then it looked sloppy. So close, yet so far!

Try It - You Might Like (Love) It!
I bought this with trepidation after reading the mixed reviews and I am not sorry I did. I am a printmaker and I thought it might be an interesting tool for mark making. I was right. It is. Wish it were loaded with India ink instead of regular ball point ink. It does taking some priming before all five points work together and the eraser on the other end keeps falling out. BUT ... for the price it is well worth it and the built in pencil at the other end is a handy feature (hence the eraser).

This is THE most efficient way to make staves
Most staff paper readily available is not for full score writing. At 3/8 inch the size is large enough to use without my glasses, but any larger would be too much. I use 18 by 24 paper to orchestrate with this pen is most practical way to mass produce staves. Ink stamp printing proved too impractical. I will probably buy another one of this. I was ready to build my own when i disvovered it.

Great idea ! Will buy more
I saw this advertised in an AFM email and wished I had thought of it. Great session tool for notating just-conceived short ensemble parts when working with players using just a number chart. No more cave drawing staff hieroglyphs. Also great for notating lines as they come to you while you're amongst the general population and away from manuscript paper. Bought one to see how it worked...will now be buying more.I did however enjoy the review displaying classic musician economics with the suggestion that a better idea would be to spend a few hours buying pens, gutting them, then somehow strapping them together to save $9.

A staff-writing pen or a hot air balloon?
Where to start? 1) The pens are at the opposite end from what the packaging indicates; 2) The cap at either end does not at all come off easily; 3) Now, to the pens and the moment we've been waiting for!!! -- It takes some 'breaking in' but the end result is not worth it. There are never 5 lines of the same ink level and there are never even 5 lines!Incredible marketing - totally unrefined product!!! Not worth it, so sorry to say -- yet glad for the opportunity to spare others!!!!
