Initial Review - I will update this if my opinion changes over time. (updated 03/11/2015)
I have not been offered or received anything in return for this review.Updated 3/11/2015 - downgraded from 5 to 4 stars for the following fairly minor issues:1. The 2.1a port is recognized by my Galaxy S3 phone as a rapid charger, but the 2.5a port is not. This means I have to be careful which port I use even though both are, in theory, powerful enough to rapid charge. The 2.5a port will take as much as 4 times longer to charge the phone because the phone will limit its draw to 0.5a on this port.2. Although the device does not need to be button-on started when you plug in a device to charge, I noticed on at least one device I tested with (an ipod touch I had sitting around) that once it was charged and stopped drawing, the ipod touch would no longer be running on the batter pack and would not draw a charge again unless unplugged and plugged back in or the button on the batter was pushed. That can mean if I put a mifi on the batter to run all day, the first time the mifi is fully charged it will turn off the batter pack and then the mifi can run down and die unless I re-press the button. These two issues are confusing, and are just enough to move this from a perfect 5 star rating to a 4 star rating on an otherwise beautiful and well designed unit.---First impression: It's beautiful, very slim, and will slip comfortably into my travel back. The ports are well marked and can be read in low light. The case is smooth plastic but feels high quality. It's probably a scratch and fingerprint magnet if that bothers you. It doesn't bother me.While it can be used to charge your devices while it is being charged itself. Presumably, if the output your devices require is higher in total than the charge you're putting in, it will eventually drain. Since charging is done with a micro-USB connector for input, this is very likely if you are charging a tablet, or two devices at once. The only way to avoid that would be to buy a battery pack that has a block adapter charger, but that would add something else you have to travel with. When you plug in a device that draws a charge, the battery pack will sense it and begin charging immediately without requiring any button push. I consider this a good thing, because it allows me to keep the batter back in a deep pocket in my travel pack, and just thread the charging cable for my devices up into the top pocket where the cell modem or phone stays. I don't have to dig into the pack and turn on the battery. I suppose the downside is that I can leave things that need a charge plugged in and not charging. I'm not sure why I'd need that.Compatibility:On most devices, it's fine.On Apple iPad the pack is recognized as charging normallyOn Samsung Galaxy S3 the pack shows charging normally on the 2.1amp port, but on the 2.5amp port it is shown as not a rapid charger, so charging is potentially slowerOn Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 the pack shows charging but not as a Samsung usb charger so charging is potentially MUCH slowerThe only button on the unit is small and recessed to avoid and accidental push, and just seems to turn on the LED indicators showing how much charge remains. These also light up while charging. As to capacity - at 10,400mAh I expect it to be about the same as the unit I'm replacing (from EVO Power). This is to say I can connect a mifi unit to the battery and leave them connected in my pack all day while wandering around Europe without running out of power. It should charge my Samsung S3 around 3 times if I'm using the standard Samsung battery, or twice if I'm using the extended battery. I will update this review if that turns out not to be the case. The only remaining questions are how long it takes to charge, and how well it holds a charge when not in use. I'll update this review with that information once I have time to test it. It will take at least two days to get to that update because first I have to drain it, then I have to time how long to charge. I'll probably test that with a couple of different charging blocks with different capacity so I can give an accurate review.

It would be oh so nice to have a quicker charge but at the same ...
I got this portable charger as a backup when I was going to Europe for about a month. When I saw that it had a 2.5 amp charge port I was excited and a bit nervous at the same time. It would be oh so nice to have a quicker charge but at the same time it would do me no good if a.) my devices couldn't even take a charge that fast and b.) over heated and blew up... a bit dramatic I know but you get the picture. In the Field:On my journey I had a total of 5 devices that I had: Moto X 1st gen, Motorola Photon 4g, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 1st gen, and a Motorola S-11 Bluetooth headphones. My Moto x was my daily driver at home, my Motorola Photon was converted to a mp3 player, and the Nexus 4 was my travel phone. The Nexus 7 was my tablet of choice and the Motorola S-11 headphones are awesome for traveling because I did not have to worry about a tangled mess of wires for headphones.Trial by Fire:So during my trip my travel phone (Nexus 4) would be dying left and right because I used it allot for navigation so whenever I noticed my phone screaming for some juice I took out the my charger plugged it in and slipped it into my coat pocket. In a few minutes the phone was happy and a good 30 mins the phone was well on its way to being full. I was glad it was so fast and even happier that it didn't set my or my stuff on fire. I was even able to have enough charge left over to charge my other devices if I needed to, and I did at one point or another to get more out of my devices. I was even able to keep my Nexus 7 from dying (really important to check that your tablet is not left on in your bag). I really like that the size is small enough to manipulate it if by chance you get a phone call and your device needs a charge the cable it comes with is about a foot so what I did allot was just stack my phone on top of the charger and carried on my conversation.. felt kinda retro with the bulk but not as fat as the old ones.So after traveling through 4 countries in a months time I can honestly say that this product is well made and does what I claims to do. I am extremely satisfied and will recommend this product to my family and friends.

Great for recharging while on the go with one potential Gotcha
When camping I have been dragging around a car portable battery jumper box because it had 2 cigarette lighter ports to charge phones with. It was heavy and cumbersome and takes up lots of space in the tent. With this charger I can accomplish the same job in 1/20th the space. The charger unit is about the same size as my HTC One X+ phone. I can run the phone while connected to the battery to preserve its battery and extend usability for days.I have used it for a few days now with my phone but have only tried using it to charge two phones briefly. It seems to do the job fine though neither was completely drained so I don't have a gauge on how well it would work from a drained state. I was unable to charge my tablet with it because my tablets supplied cable only charges from the wall plug, not a USB port (no fault of this devices) so you might want to confirm that capability of your mobile device before purchasing for a specific purpose! I would have to spend a few dollars to get that functionality via a new cable. The one GOTCHA:I did note that when my phone fully charged after about 15-20 minutes it stopped charging. The phone was no longer receiving power from the battery so if you left it alone for hours on end it could potentially charge up and drain down again. I left it fully charged and then saw the charge light o the phone go off for about an hour and never saw it come back on again. Pushing the battery status button on the charger or disconnecting/reconnecting the cable got it going again. I DO NOT KNOW if this behavior is the result of the way this charger works or my phone or if it will do that with every phone?!Overall I am very pleased with this purchase because now I can run the phone on an extended outing or away from power without hesitation or concern that it end up dead before my trip is over.
