My experience with this product has been very good. It’s write speed is Between 2200 to 2600 using my iMacs. I didn’t expect the 2800 right speed because most items that are not made by Apple don’t usually live up to the exact numbers. The difference came, in real time use however, when creating video. I had to redo nearly 700 corrupted videos and these drives made the work go so much faster. I have Three of these drives connected to three different iMac computers and what would normally take three months work to complete only took about five days. One of the most notable speed changes was when creating a thumbnail image for each video. Each image and its creation through itunes, normally takes about 2mins to complete but with these drives it was Instantaneous. The moment you clicked on it, it was done within a couple seconds, most times immediately.One drive dismounted once, but I soon discovered that the thunderbolt connection is very Sensitive and once I secured all of the drives physically, And the cables connected to them, I have had no dismounts for the entire month that I’ve had them. Also, they can’t be sitting on or mounted to something that vibrates(like computer fan, or table vibrating or shaking, from let’s say washer& dryer in other part of house, like mine)With this experience, I would buy these again, definitely recommend to a friend.

This thing is ffffast. Cant tell any speed difference between this and the internal SSD.Some people complain about disconnects. These are probably caused by RF interference, and is a known issue with some Macs. Try turning off the computers Wifi/BT and use an Ethernet cable instead, plug the drive into a port far away from the devices antenna.I haven't had any disconnects, but I use Ethernet instead of Wifi.

Depending on where you will use this drive, it's a very good option for a variety of creative workflows and purposes (similar to the Samsung X5). The main flaw with this drive is the design of the end-caps. While this device is claimed to withstanding drop-testing from 2m or more, the reality is the end-caps will deform or crack if dropped onto a hard surface from those heights. Also some of the bundled / built-in software doesn't work great in all cases. If you're looking for a better mix of durabilty and speed, and a simpler setup, check out the X5 or OWC's IP67-rated Envoy series NVMe drives.

I've been using nothing but G-Drives for years now, and I've never had one fail. This particular one is also insanely fast! Even faster than some of their single desktop drives and you don't need to plug in power. Awesome little drive.

The 2TB SSD is worth the money. It's was faster than our other small drives making it easy to pass off smaller projects.

My original version of this hard drive had the issue of dismounting randomly and intermittently, but G-Technology replaced it quickly with a perfect version of this hard drive and I couldn't be happier. I've been a G-Tech customer for years and I highly recommend trying this hard drive if you need high performance.

Initially, the drive was connected via Caldigit TS3 dock (which is TB3), and it worked well. I updated to Big Sur, and the disconnects began. I initially thought it was the upgrade that did it, so I had apple do everything and then some (I have apple care+). Apple's engineering team went through my Mac Mini, they reported that there is nothing they could find that would cause this issue.I've connected the drive to a TB3 dock, daisy chained if from a TB3 drive bay, and connected directly to my 2018 Mac Mini, and behavior persists. This is not a power issue. I'm on replacement drive # 4. The support personnel I've been dealing with never mentioned anything about a manufacturing issue (per another review here). They did however, ask me to connect it to another TB3 computer. What the heck is that, like I'm the only one that has this issue. Let's say, I do connect it to another computer with TB3 (which I don't have) and it works. Where does that leave me... Do they think I would buy a new computer... It was not a useful suggestion, especially since there are many others with the same issue.For those of you that are not having the issue, consider yourselves lucky. This IS REAL.I have a TB3 dock (Calidigit TS3) with USB-C and USB A connections, and have never had a problem with any of those drives. I have an OWC Thunderbay 4 TB3, and all 4 drives work perfectly. I've used 3 different TB3 cables (the cable that came with the drive, and Apple TB3 cable, and a Plugable TB3 cable)This G-Drive Mobile Pro TB3 SSD is the only drive that has this issue.I've reached back out to support and requested they send me a drive that has been verified it has the latest firmware. We'll see.

HiThis is an excellent product and it works with by MacBook Pro seamlessly faster. 54 Mts video conversion from Camtasia taken hardly 3 minutes. excellent performance.

Got this because of it’s look and speed as my both Windows Notebook and MacBook Pro have TB. The transfer speed is exceptional, up to the advertised speed to 2800MB/s. Built quality is top notch and the design is good looking as well. Worth every penny!

Hangt in mijn setup via een G-raid (TB3-poort) daisy chain aan een MBpro 2017. Draait alleen voor FCP edits en exports. Wat is dat snel🤪👍🏻. Duur en goed. Hoe Premium wil je het hebben?

I was slightly alarmed by the many reviews warning that this unit often disconnects - but when it came up for £165 I decided to take a punt. I've had no disconnection issues whatsoever and I'm very pleased with the speed of the unit.
