Roku 3600R HDMI Streaming Stick

This review is for indian users who intend to buy . This is a US based streaming service and sole purpose was to be used in US only , so if you're here in India it does come with limitations (infact lots) . This device works well if you know how to use VPN and DNS lookup to avoid the geo-location restrictions, It has the widest free to stream channels online , Roku does not force any content to us unlike appletv , amazon fire or choromecast. If intending to use as DLNA device only it supports only mp4, .mkv only not .avi since there is lot of containers in avi . Next the remote app is amazing but cant be downloaded from playstore or app store since the device is not officially available in India, android users can download the apk file from internet , apple users should have a US store account otherwise cant download . If you setup this device using a US ip address you can add all the channels and see free content too.. Lastly you have to buy subscription for Hulu, netflix, HBO GO and other pay-per-view channels(this is extra). The running cost for using this device is high for users in living in India so please be very clear in what way you intend to use this device than be disappointed later and thrashing as waste product in amazon.in How I use this is , I have a paid VPN service so overcame the geo-restrictions roku puts , plus i downloaded the .apk from internet and from app store using a US itunes account. Lots of guides are available to help if you're interested in using this device I bought from amazon.in(Gadgets and Accesories) true genuine US import so it has a US power adapter .very reliable seller, I hope this clarifies a lot about this product for Indian users. P.S - Roku stick is lot cheaper in US so if you have friends or family there you can get too, since it wont have warranty even if you from gadget and accesories

Working as expected. Have plethora of free channel options, gives the option to mirror or play any content of phone / tablet to tv. All in all an awesome device

So much better than Chromecast

I have this product and it is a really good product. It is not officially supported in India. So you may have to do some tricks including that for registration. I bought it from US. I bought it mainly for using Netflix and Youtube on big screen and for private listening. Private listening option is not yet available in chromecast. There are lot of free channels all of them works great. So, it is worth buying if you can get it for cheaper. Some of the channels are not supported in India. But it is not problem of Roku. It is problem of the channel service provider. But those channels have contents mainly for US country. I compared chromecast and this for a week and bought this one for the following reasons. 1. It has its own app 2. Has private listening option. 3. Comes with its own remote. I will give five star for the device. Anyway for the price I will not give any star. If there is an option for -ve rating I would have used that. This device is not officially supported in India. So, someone should import or buy from US. I bought from US recently and price is less than half (and the best part is that too after 1300 rs discount). So, I would suggest not to buy from this seller.

I bought this after all the hype I had been reading about Roku. The product is fine and the remote is good quality. My primary purpose was to be able to view DLNA streams from my WD Live Nas, that I have been using for ages with my Bravia, LG and Chromecast. Since I had found Chromecast not to be playing all the formats that the TV would play, I bought Roku after reading its wider support. However I found it to be no better, in fact supported much lesser media than what even Chromecast did. I read innumerable articles on supported formats, and various recommended tools and codes. Even then, is a hit and miss most of the times. Different videos with same codecs have different results. Support for other channels is no doubt excellent, but my lead purpose remains unsolved. I don't know why they can't support a wider range of codecs like even my 6 year old tv does.

Its is not suitable for india.

The power adapter given with this product is not universal it's American 120 volts so when I started using the product it failed to startup, so I had to buy an extra adapter online, VPN connection also required for access to most channels...
