Progressive Glass? Yes Please!
I bought this 7 ft. Kastking spinning rod because of the attractive price/offer. I had not had a Kastking rod (or reel before this). I mostly own composite rods, which are mostly spinning rods: I have many Ugly Stiks (Lites/Lite Pros/GX2s/Elites) and several Pinnacle Powertip Golds, a Shimano Voltaeus (shoulda bought more of those) and even a Zebco Rhino. While technically not a composite, I wanted to try the 'progressive glass.'I am impressed. This rod is light, rigid and fast, and casts well. It has a good balance of backbone and flexibility. I have fished two full seasons (Spring/Summer/Fall) with it now, as a worm pole with Texas rigged plastics for Largemouth Bass. I have caught many, many 1, 2, and 3 pound bass (by digital scale) with this rod and it has held up well, and shows no defects. I will try to replace it in kind, if I ever need to. I would definitely recommend this rod, as a reasonably priced rod.

Nice old school feeling
Love this rod! It has an awesome feel- like old school meets new. It has great sensitivity for a glass rod. Can’t beat it! I may buy a second one in a different size!Update: I have been fishing these rods hard for over a year now. I have all of the three casting models- 8ft, 9ft and 10 and they are all great and all different. The 9ft rod has a moderate feel and is great for chasing around smaller summer striped bass and bluefish - the rod is a lot of fun and still has a good backbone. Working poppers and spooks with ease and a joy with the moderate action. The 10ft rod I use for surfcasting, I’m usually throwing 6oz plugs and this casts them perfectly and also can take on any fish with ease, it has more of a moderate to mod fast feel. One of my fav rods to date for surfcasting and is a ton of fun to catch a fish on!The 8ft rod is used for canal and river fishing. It has a fast feel to it yet when you have a fish on it still has a moderate touch which makes it feel fun while fighting a fish. The fast tip really helps and is a must in fast moving water. The pics are of the 8ft rod with a 40” fish probably around 25#, the rod handled the fish with ease but was still a fun fight.I have paired all rods with the Kastking Rover conventional reel (which also kicks butt). I also really love the cork handles on these rods, hard to find these days.

Good, basic rod. Happy it has a full grip!
Seems to be a good rod for the money. We’re using them for carp and catfish - both known to be strong fighters, both need a rod with enough spine to lop heavy weights. While there isn’t much subtle about a catfish strike, rods need to be pretty sensitive for carp fishing. The Progressive Glass rods from Kastking have been solidly delivering! Decent components, and my preferred cork grips as a bonus!

Gave it one more shot!!! Terrible Product!!!
Well I gave them one more shot and got and I'm kicking myself. Bought two rods for a Florida trip and they performed well. Got home decided to go to my local lake and went to set the hook on a decent fish and POP! I take care of my stuff so I don't want to hear the crap that oh it got caught in a door or tail gate. I don't want to hear oh well you must have high sticked it. Nope you would be wrong. The break happen closer to the handle under the ferrule. I have built rods and this is another cheap blank. Now I didn't expect the best but I also didn't expect it to snap. Once I got back to the car I took these pics. See the pics for yourself! All of their rods are terrible!! Hence why they are always on sale!!!Update 6/24/2023: Kast King reached out to warranty the product and the new product was received. The black tube they ship them in was undamaged. In fact I have all three tubes and each tube is in perfect condition. Got the replacement rod rigged up casted once, everything was fine. Went to make a second cast and it snapped, this time above the ferrule. I was casting a small strike King spinner bait 1/2 oz. Well within spec for the rod. First let me say that they stood by their product and sent me a replacement, and did not ask me to adjust my review at all. They gave me a choice between a refund or a new rod. I chose the rod! So kudos to customer service. Now my issue is there is no one testing these blanks before they are shipped out. When I build a rod I test it after it has been wrapped. You can see in one of my pics a rod I'm in the process of building. So I have some idea of what's going on. You can see in the pics other Kast King products so I'm not bashing them as a whole. These rods need better quality control...it doesn't take long to test a blank\completed rod before shipping it to the customer. In my pics you can see the replacement rod with one of the original rods that is still working fine so it is possible to get a good one, BUT...this is unacceptable! I let the customer service representative know as soon as it happened so I will update once I have more info. As for now the review will remain a 1 star.Update 7/6/2023: I'll keep it short...Kastking had their rod specialist contact me to go through the issues I was having. He determined that the damage could have happened during the packing process or in transit. I retained all of the rod tubes the rods were sent in. Each tube is in perfect condition. Each rod had no visible damage on the rod blank. He determined the damage was not my fault and authorized that I received another rod. I just tested the replacement rod and it worked just fine. Because of the customer service and their willingness to make things right I am increasing my rating. I still do not believe this deserves 5 stars however I do believe that the customer service experience makes up for the difference in rating. Remember, I did not reach out to them, they emailed me and offered a solution. I am satisfied by this solution.
