I would give ZERO STARS if I could. This is my third shower head of this brand so I know how to use them. This one, the water was BROWN when I put the new included filter into the shower head. I let it drain till clear. Then for the next 2 weeks it was still coming out brown every single time we turned on the shower head - not the tub faucet, sink, or any other water source in the entire house. Only through the shower filter. So I changed the filter to another one I had (same brand). It was black as it is supposed to be when flushing the charcoal. I let it flush the specified time and it was clear. The next day, turned it on and still black residue coming out. I thought it would eventually resolve itself, but it is still doing it a week later. Now, after a couple more days, the water is coming out brown again!! I also removed the entire unit and checked the water coming out of the wall without the unit on at all and no brown stuff! It is definitely the filter. As I said, this is the third one of these I’ve purchased so I know it’s not supposed to do this! The other ones never did this so I can only assume that the unit itself is defective. The first filter definitely was! I am not happy about either. The whole unit should be replaced since this shouldn’t be happening. It’s making me question whether the filter is even working?? UPDATE: I got a water tester and tested tap water from the tub spigot verses the water coming through this filter and the water from this filter is DIRTIER than the water straight from the tap!! This is not ok! And of course the return window for this has already passed (I purchased it before our bathroom was remodeled and didn’t install it for 2 months). I want my money back and a replacement unit. Or maybe it’s time to jump ship and try a different brand.

Bought this almost 2 years ago, shower head doesn't exert as much pressure as other brand shower heads on the waterchef filter housing. Dropped it once, the body is plastic and the threaded connector took the damage and had a hairline crack so it would drip leak during use. Dropped it again about a month ago and it split apart. Put one of the other handheld shower wands on the filter and its night and day difference how much better then other wand is. However the Filter is top tier and if you swap it out on schedule it really helps with your overall health. Your skin is your largest organ, it also absorbs what ever is on it within 7 seconds. 3 Stars because replacement filters cost a fortune.

The water where I live is unbelievably alkaline. I developed a dry bumpy itchy patch of skin on my back when I moved here, and it took a few months to figure out that it was the water itself. Since I live in an apartment, I don't have the option to get a water softener. A co-worker suggested this filtering shower head. This thing saved my skin. My skin immediately felt less irritated after showers, and the skin on my back healed in about a week and a half. I would absolutely recommend Water Chef to anyone struggling with hard water in their apartment. EDIT: It's been a bit under 2 months. As of a few weeks ago, my dermatitis started coming back. At first I was incredulous, because the filters are supposed to last 6 months each. However, it became clear to me that I definitely had to change the filter in less than 2 months. Keeping up with this rate of filter replacement is going to be expensive! I don't know whether it's WaterChef or my water supply, but I thought I should note that for .anyone wondering how often they'll have to change their filter.

The plastic piece that holds the showerhead to the main unit broke after 6 months. It doesn't seem sturdy enough to hold the showerhead for a long term use, and you can't buy the replacement piece anywhere!! Reached out to the support and crickets... basically have to get a new unit even though the main unit is still fine. Disappointing

Easy to install, definitely makes a difference in the water quality. Skin is not itchy nor dry now. Hair is softer. Long lasting filter. No leaks.
