Prentice-Hall Biology

This looks like a good 9th or 10th grade biology textbook. Will cover everything a high schooler needs, has built in experiments and assessments. Great pictures.However, only 4 stars. I ordered a “very good” used copy from American Textbooks, and got an “acceptable” with many tears and creases and a very worn cover.

I home school my child and even though I'm a christian I still give her a well rounded education from both the secular and christian perspective, as that is what she will receive when she gets into college. I also feel she should be educated from both sides or she will have no right to speak on the subject. I believe this is an excellent biology book, written from the evolution theory premiss, but one of the best written books for teaching and learning on the subject from that point of view. They make it easy and fun to read. They also have places in the book referencing websites that you can go to that show actual experiments on line, as well as further information on the subject that keep the lesson fresh, fun and interesting for the student while learning. I would highly recommend this book as a teaching tool.

Love all the extras in this book. Some of the information is not as up to date as I would like or are not always backed by scientific evidence (seems like a "must" to me in a high school biology book!)For example, "the day has come when we are now able to produce new living things" you have seen this on TV. Since when does TV become solid evidence to support a statement!) I prefer true scientific studies that have used the scientific method to come to their conclusions. This is getting picky, because I appreciate the drawings, photos, extra study hints (especially in the teacher's edition) and the web pages that are suggested- done by Prentice-Hall.

It's a decent biology book for high school students. Some of the humorous attempts are going to become a little cheesy with time, but the information is presented in a teen-friendly manner at least. I generally teach in an order that is fairly close to the order of the chapters in this book, however it's not exact so I deviate a little. What I love most about this book is the resources that are available to go with it. There are worksheets on a variety of levels and they are all tailored to fit each individual section.

I got this book because it was sugested by one of my education teachers that I get a text for the content I'll be teaching to help writing practice lessons for her class. So i went to my old hs and asked what they used and the teacher seemed to love this book, i however have not spent much time with it and therefore cannot give a full evaluation. i can say, however, that the content is good and straight forward; there is no confusion or jumping around

I was glad to see that this book actually was the ISBN that I searched for. In the past, I have searched for specific ISBN #'s and ordered item that came up from the search only to receive a different ISBN that the one I searched for and if the schools request certain ISBN #'s, there is a reason for it.

Good biology book. Needed for high school class.

I've used this textbook to teach ninth grade Biology with two homeschoolers. I've really enjoyed using this curriculum. The websites and links mostly work, which is enough for me. I didn't have to spend hundreds of dollars on new textbooks, but the students still had access to nearly all of the multimedia materials available online.This is a challenging textbook, and the kids have really enjoyed it. Like all Biology curricula, memorization is important, but the colorful pages and informative text explain the concepts well.

Wenn man Bio in Englisch hat, dann kommt man um dieses Buch nicht drum herum. Alles bestens, auch was die Quali vom Buch angeht.

Would have been nice if i recieved the book... Gabysbook or whatever failed

I am excited to be upgrading to go back to school. You can teach an old dog new tricks. ;)

That was cheap and did help my friend.

Provided me 2 years full of Biology to aid in Biology courses.
