Our original Ekobrew K-cups lasted YEARS (at least 10) but one by one they would give out from natural wear and tear. IE, the o-ring popped out or the hinge wore down, but we got at least 3 years use out of the set of six.My wife started using an aero-press, so when the last K-cup was gone I joined in using that method for a long couple years. But it didn't produce a strong, hot cup of coffee that I loved.I started searching for the Ekobrew brand again because of my earlier satisfaction. A satisfaction based on researching Amazon reviews of refillable k-cups: Ekobrew delivers the best experience with a hot,full bodied cup and a simple to clean and rinse product.I quickly discovered Ekobrew was hard to find in the Amazon marketplace, but was happy to find them with this storefront. Shipping was to take about a week, which I did not have issues with. Next day and two day shipping is nice but dang it with immediate gratification we're getting hooked on. Still, the order came in a couple days early which is only kudos to the seller for being more than prompt!

I've used Keurigs for about 7 years (before home models were being made) and reusable filter for 2 years). Here's what you need to know:USE REUSABLESThese are better than disposables for a few reasons:1. can get the coffee and/or blend of your choice - not limited to what comes in k-cups2. costs much less per cup3. less waste created / environmentally friendly4. downside is inconvenience, but see HOW TO USE below for lessons learned from a veteranWHICH ONE TO GETEkobrew is the best design. I've used solofill, Keurig's my k-cup, and ekobrew. All work ok but:1. My Kcup has more parts to clean, leaked more grinds into the coffee too.2. Solofill is good but not quite as good as ekobrew. Side walls and water distributor on ekobrew is better. And with the flat bottom, the ekobrew is easier to clean. Coffee grinds get annoyingly stuck in the bottom of the solofill, whereas the Ekobrew can be rinsed out in one shot. Solofill is probably fine if you make one cup a day and put it in the dishwasher. But I make a bunch and the inconvenience of the solofill cleaning was enough to make me prefer the disposables over it.3. Ekobrew got the whole thing right. Side walls allow you to fill 2/3 with coffee and make an ideal brew - water has room to mix with the coffee. The water distributes very well through the perforated funnel on top. And cleaning is easy (see how to clean #5).HOW TO USE - FOR CONVENIENCE AND GOOD COFFEEThis is actually really important. Until I got it down to a system by trial and error to have it (1) not take much extra time compared to a disposable and (2) tasting good (not weak), I kept going back and forth on using these vs. disposables for the convenience factor. But with these steps I am fully converted to using the reusables.1. Put your ground coffee in a Tupperware container. I like something that will hold about a bag of coffee and is relatively deep (not wide and short) so it's easy to scoop out of it. This make it very convenient to scoop 2/3 of a container full of coffee, shake the extra back into the container. Keep it air tight in the cabinet with your mugs (or in the refrigerator). Much more convenient than trying to scoop from a bag or than using a spoon to scoop into the cup.2. Blend your coffee if you like. If you're like me and drink lots of cups a day, using the tupperware method (1 above) allows very easy mixing. I pour half a bag of decaf and caffeinated each into the container and shake well. Use a somewhat stronger blend than you might otherwise get since Keurig brews fast I do find the final flavor is less strong than if you got the same at Starbucks for instance.3. Scoop 2/3 of the ekobrew with coffee. You want the coffee just above the bottom of the sidewall so water won't seep out without going through the coffee, but not too high that there's no room for the coffee to push thru (it will leak out and around the sides then). Make sure your ekobrew is completely dry, and then you can scoop with it directly and not try to spoon it in). Wipe off the sides back into the tupperware and close.4. Brew like a normal k-cup.5. Cleaning. This is really important to keep it from being inconvenient and took a while to work out.a. Do this right after brewing - do not let the grinds sit in the ekobrew or they will harden and be more difficult to clean outb. Pick the ekobrew up by the top sides (not hot there) and you can walk it over to the sink over your brewed coffee so it doesn't drip on the counter / floorc. Open the top and hold it upside down directly over the drain and low (so the grinds don't spread all over the place)d. Rinse through the bottom with cold water, with the cup upside down. All the grinds should come out in one quick shot and go right down the draine. Shake and set to dry.6. Have more than one of these if you like several cups a day. You have to wait until they are completely dry to reuse or else the scooping method (#3) won't work.Using these steps above, I've completely replaced the disposables without it being materially less convenient. I get the coffee of my choice and its much less expensive, and there's no waste.Enjoy!

I have the old b30 Keurig single cup brewer. I wanted to buy a reusable cup and choice this. However, I have a hard time getting the handle to want to lock down. Kind of have to slam it. That's why I'm knocking off a star.

I'm somewhat of a coffee snob - I have been drinking black coffee since I was 12 (21 years ago), which doesn't allow me much tolerance for bitter, stale, poorly roasted, or otherwise 'not so good' coffee... I have always preferred the traditional methodology of burr grinding the beans just before usage, drip brewing them and enjoying immediately.My office recently transitioned over to a Keurig machine from a standard drip coffee maker - I guess the convenience factor finally caught up. They loaded up with several of the big box brands of K-Cups to provide a nice variety to everyone. I tried several of them... and I tried to like them... I really did... but the 'best' ones I tried were just okay...Missing my choice fresh ground beans, I did some research, found this little gem, and jumped on it. I received the more current "Made in the USA" version, which is supposed to be a bit better made than the older version.FUNCTIONALITY:I ground my beans using my conical burr grinder on the setting suitable for metal mesh filters (a bit more course than paper filter settings). For my first try, filled the Ekobrew to the fill line, tapping it as I filled it to allow for a bit more capacity. I tried to run a 10oz cycle with it, however the last 2oz were just water so my results were a weak, watered down cup.My second attempt, I filled the Ekobrew to the fill line, not tapping quite as much to allow for more flow (as the directions specify). I ran an 8oz cycle through it this time, and it yielded great results! Very impressive considering the relatively quick brew time.With all that said, read the directions and tweak accordingly until you obtain your desired results. The best thing about the Ekobrew, in my opinion, is your ability to 'fine tune' your coffee, as you would using a standard brewing method.The Ekobrew is also a cinch to clean! The used grinds dump out easily (be careful when handling after usage, as it can be somewhat hot - especially the metal mesh) and rinse from the bottom, then inside, and wipe out. Done!I can only really name two small shortcomings for the Ekobrew, and they're not enough to remove a star:I use a 16oz mug at work - in order to fill it, I have to fill the Ekobrew properly, run an 8oz cycle, dump/clean the Ekobrew, refill it, run another 8oz cycle, dump/clean... Not a huge deal, but it does take a bit of time (and kills some of the convenience factor of having a Keurig machine).While the Ekobrew produces excellent results given the conditions (and I'm still fine-tuning), I have still not been able to get a cup out of it that matches a simple drip-brewed cup, and, unfortunately, I don't believe it's capable of doing so simply to the limitations of the Keurig machine itself (mainly brewing too quickly). For my situation at work, however, I'm definitely much more appeased using the Ekobrew!All in all, the Ekobrew is a wonderful product for those of you who want to enjoy your own, fresh beans! There's also something to be said about saving the environment and all that good stuff. ;-) Cost savings should be there over time as well.

This refillable cup for Keurig brewers works well and gives you the option to use whatever ground coffee you like. I always use mine with the Ekobrew coffee paper filter. I found they worked very well and made a good cup of coffee once you figure out the exact coffee measurement that is right for you. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because over time, the cup has sort of bent at the mesh side from trying to make sure the lid was closed securely. This is probably my fault for squeezing from the top and bottom to close it, but nonetheless it has crushed in over time. I liked that it reduced the amount of plastic being thrown out from the K-cups, especially for those using multiple cups per day.

I love coffee and did lots of research before buying a reusable filter for my Keurig. I couldn't stand that I had to use k-cups that generate so much trash and I love my Folgers Hazelnut so I wanted to be able to use my own coffee. Also, sometimes I'm not in the mood for strong coffee this gives me the option to use as much or as little coffee as I want. The filter is great. It's one piece that fits perfectly into the Keurig. I think it doesn't fit into every kind of Keurig - I personally own the Mini Plus B31 - you can also check the ekobrew website to confirm which it fits. It's a quick snap-and-go and once you're done, you just empty your grinds into the garbage and it's a quick wash. I have never had a problem with excess grinds at the bottom of my coffee. Definitely recommended!

I took some time to write this review since I wanted to use it extensively before I came to an conclusion. I have had the Ekobrew for 3 months now and I am completely satisfied. It works very well with my Kuerig B70. The product is well built and is easy to use. It took me some time to play around with the right anount of grinds to get the perfect cup of coffee but I eventually got it right. As one can imagine with such a product, the only drawback is cleaning the grinds out. I use the non-business end of a spoon to scrape out the grinds and then just rinse it (i would never use detergent on it). Even though the plastic mesh from which the brewed coffee comes out is surprisingly tough, I am carefull not to scrape too hard against it. All in all a very good produc to have around. Pays ifself after about 40 coffees!

I like this Ekobrew, but I do highly suggest using filters with it, as other wise you will end up with grounds in your coffee. Also if you like a strong cup of coffee like me. I fill it up and then tap it on the counter to make more room for more coffee. I ususally do this a couple times. Then I close the filter over on top, as I find if you leave it open that you will end up with grounds in your coffee. The best refillable k-cup I have tried.
