My old transformer - which hit the floor and broke, shows output of 26.5 - will this still work?

The only difference was I had to cut end of to direct wire. My older system did not have a plug but the transformer worked great.

Will this work on a rain bird controller #esp-m?

I don’t know the specific model of rainbird system you have. If your existing transformer uses two wires, then this will definitely work. If it has three wires then it may or may not work and the hookup is different for these controllers and this hookup is not discribed in the literature.

Works for older ESP model with modification.

Works for me for the older ESP model. This has 2 wires instead of 3 (2 orange non polarized wires and a green ground wire) of the original adaptor for esp model. connect red and black from the new adapter to where the two orange line of the original old adaptor connects.Use it at your own risk.
