Interesting case, look out for new developments
I've read this book as well as Diane Fanning's. Comparison is unavoidable. To Aphrodite Jones's credit, she stays neutral for a longer while in her story. But when it comes to the trial, evidence understandably slants her against mr Peterson. Her language is lacking, but I feel she gives a fairly accurate, albeit a bit boring version of events. I think these books complement eachother as they each tell different details. If you're interested in this case, read them both. And view The Staircase (Soupcons), the French documentary. You can get it from Amazon France, it's in English, but with optional French subtitles. Also, keep an eye out for developments in this case, as Peterson is now out of prison awaiting a new trial...

Gripping True Life Murder Mystery!
I ordered this book after seeing the Treat Williams movie "The Staircase Murders" on Channel five. Intrigued, I wanted further details on some of the facts presented in the movie. Ms Jones does exactly that - details all the elements of the investigation and crime without bogging the reader down with too much specialist knowledge. The book is written in the style of a fiction novel which I thought made it more enjoyable and a quick read. The facts of this case are tragic for all involved.

First rate detailed story telling
I ordered the book following viewing of the film, The Staircase Murders. For anyone liking 'true crime' I found it fascinating and 'unputdownable'. A real case of house devil and street angel. I felt sorry for those fooled by him. I understand he is still fighting against his sentence and claims to be innocent.

Boring
I found this book extremely meandering, unfocussed and dull. From other reviews I expected much sharper writing. I abandoned it about a third of the way through.
