Sony BDP-S1700U Blu-ray DVD Player Dolby Digital TrueHD/DTS and DVD upscaling, with Included HDMI Cable, 2025 Model

Bought this as a replacement for a Sony DVD player that I've had connected to my bedroom TV for years. All said, I paid a big $40 for the DVD player so I really got my money's worth until it started freezing up a few weeks ago.. My bedroom TV (a small 20" Samsung) must be about 20 years old and has only one HDMI connection. To use the Blu-Ray and my STB, I had to purchase an HDMI switch/splitter which works like a charm. I've only played a few disc so far and the performance is as good as I could have hoped for considering that the TV is only 720dpi. The remote is small but is about the same size as the one that came with my old DVD player. It would be nice if the buttons were backlighted but they are what they are and I'll get used it the same way as I did the DVD remote. Time will tell how well this unit holds up but if it lasts as long as my old Sony DVD player I'll be more than happy.

This is one of the best purchases I have made. The Sony dvd player is so easy to start up, actually the dvd player starts up without any help. A Sony control with batteries is included. The HDMI connection cable is included. The Sony DVD player has a great picture and the sound is awesome!! Great value for the money. The player appears to be very well built and includes Blue Ray and Dolby audio. I love this DVD player. I would definitely recommend this player!

Plays DVDs like a breeze, but it arrived with a minor fault. It won't eject because the top cover of the disc tray wasn't properly assembled, but it was luckily fixable. It now works very well after repair. Sony, get yourselves back together (especially your double standards when it comes to PlayStation games, which was unrelated to this review but I'm mentioning it because it's all Sony). If you're looking for this to connect wireless, I got bad news for this. It won't do it unless you got Ethernet with you, which I didn't got on me. No internet is good and all for this, but why bother connecting it anyway? You can play stuff offline through your Blu-Ray collection and jump drive, which is a plus.

This Sony Blu Ray DVD player is a snap to set up! Its compact size is perfect for my console and the quality image and audio is superb. The remote is very easy to use and to connect to the system! I’m very pleased with this item!

This Blu-Ray/DVD player performs exceptionally well. I played a disc I got as a gift last year that paused (froze) at one point during playback in my previous player. Disc played all the way through - no freezing - in this new unit (I don't even remember exactly where it froze any more!) I was also impressed by the size of the unit - I've honestly never seen a DVD player this small before. Talk about saving space!

Nice Blu-ray player that's easy to install and use. It has a small footprint and doesn't take up much space. Picture and sound quality are great. I like the menu screens and options. Movies load quick and comes with a 5 inch remote that's easy to understand.

The Bluray/DVD player arrived ahead of time, well packaged and works excelent!!! My girls and I watched 2 movies on it already

Esse aí, levou ao pé da letra, a lendária frase "tamanho não é documento". Entrega uma qualidade absurda, principalmente na rapidez do carregamento de um disco Blu-ray. E até os DVDs então, carregam o vídeo, em pouquíssimos segundos. Coisa até, que muitos aparelhos de DVD, não o fazem. Excelente compra!

Simple compact machine that works well. It has an auto memory for place last left, though not all DVDs have that feature.

Instalei hoje na TV diz que o pen drive não é compatível
