Great projects for developing knitting skills. Techniques and tips & very well illustrated
A great book with a wide range of projects to suit learners and more experienced knitters (or someone like me who knitted years ago and has forgotten a lot!).The smaller projects are ideal for left-over wool 'stashes' (hence the title) OR anyone wanting to make something new. From lavendar bags to scarves to cushion covers the patterns are in big print, with clear photos and pictures of each project and great sections on techniques (with clear illustrations). The only thing I'd add is that the author recommends 'Rowan Yarns', who do supply in UK but via lots of different companies online. I personally found Sirdar and theknittingnetwork websites had better prices, easier to find products and much bigger range of colours online.

thickness of yarn
The advice on finishing garments in this book is really good but I cannot give it five stars because the majority of the patterns are for chunky or even super chunky yarn. I would guess that most people, like me, have more DK in their stash than anything else.

Avoid!
I've been knitting for the best part of 10 years and have accumulated a good library of pattern books and a bumper yarn stash... and I say AVOID this book like the plague! It's littered with ambiguous instructions and mistakes. It's also not that great for stash busting, if this is your plan look elsewhere the title is deceiving!I've attempted the following patterns:Cabled beanie - error on the final cable repeat which doesn't match with the crown shaping.Textured snood - no matter which way you interpret the instructions it looks nothing like the picture. I happened to have the same wool the pattern calls for and Rowan is very pricy, too pricy to keep unpicking and ruin the wool to work out what on earth the pattern is supposed to be.Stash Basket - No suggestion as to how you keep a moss stitch pattern true when increasing.Textured beanie - Tension on suggested needles is completely off. Cannot for the life of me find the right yarn to fit this. There's a few nice ideas like the mitred cushion and chevron blanket, so I may keep hold of it for inspiration. But quite frankly my experience of attempting these patterns so far has put me off attempting anything else from this book.If you've got a load of odds and ends that you want to use up try something like a 10 stitch or log cabin blanket. Or if you know roughly your yardage/meterage go on Ravelry and use it as a search term to find the right pattern for the wool you have. You'll have far better success stash busting this way.

Nice knits
Some lovely patterns but it implies you can use left over wool you have lying around but I found I needed to go out a buy stuff as didn’t have enough for some of the products. Although the patterns themselves are really nice knits.
