Useful and easy to use
This definitely is more accurate and easier to use then the mechanical pre-measured chain checkers. You will also find that your chain will have different levels of stretch in different locations. Therefore, measure many part of the chain to get a good idea of its condition.

Works very well--Easy to use
Do I need a Digital Chain Checker--no but love the tool and its nice being able to give these numbers to my clients. As well it just looks cool!

May not fit new chain. Works great when it does.
I tried this on a new SRAM GX Eagle chain but it would not fit within the chain. The instructions say not to try and force it into a new chain or it could be damaged. This means that when this chain wears enough that the tool starts fitting into the chain, the actual wear will be higher by the amount it did not fit by when the chain was new which is unknown. It could be determined by using a separate digital Vernier caliper to measure the starting offset of gauge and the new chain and then adding this back to the reading from this scale on the worn chain. However this defeats the simplicity of just using this one gauge. Fortunately I switched to a SRAM X01 Eagle chain which this gauge just fits into when the chain is new. Thus I can simply zero the gauge on the new chain and all subsequent measurements on the chain will directly and simply show its wear. So in the end the gauge turned out to be useful for my case as I plan on only using SRAM X01 chains in the future. You should check that the gauge will fit into your chain when it is new. The gauge's smallest measurement across the 8 links that it measures in a chain is about 94.3 mm. The 8 links are measured from inside of the roller at the end of the first link to the inside of the roller at the end of the 8th link. For a SRAM GX Eagle chain, this dimension is 94.18 mm which is 0.12 mm too small. The X01 chain is 94.23 mm which is only 0.07 mm or 70 um too small. The gauge will reasonably squeeze into the X01 chain but not the GX chain. Hopefully these values will help you judge whether your chain will work with this gauge.

This is my favorite tool ever.
If you're obsessive and you like to be accurate this is your tool. I've worked in shops I caught my boss one time bending the tool to make it so it looked like people's chains were stretched. Then I bought this so he didn't set me up. This is the most accurate tool It seems stupid to pay so much money for a chain stretch tool but once you have it you can't live in a world without it..

Very handy
I seem to get inconsistent readings from the various checking tools I have, but this one is really easy to use. It seems like a luxury item, but I think it's worth it.

Accurrate Chain Gauge Tool
I used this to check a chain I was concerned about. It showed .43 mm and another non-digital checker showed 4 on ascale of 1 to 10. According to KMC a reading of 0 to .40 is good. A reading of .40 to .80 keep a check on your chain periodically. Anything over .80 mm you need to replace the chain.

Very accurate!
Measured my old chain at .4mm wear vs. a new chain was reading 0.00

Excelente herramienta
Aunque existen otras herramientas mucho más baratas qué aparentemente logran la misma función, nada como asegurarte a un nivel superior para cuidar la transmisión de tú bicicleta.
