Old Hickory Sticker

This is for all the weekend chefs who have never used anything but Walmart stainless steel knives. This blade is high carbon steel (1095). High carbon steel is the preferred steel for all of the famous chefs worldwide. You never wash and allow to "air dry", you never leave it wet and always very lightly oil them or they will rust. Treat it like a cast iron pan and it will give you years of use. Sure, it doesn't have a fancy handle to keep costs down but the steel is really all that matters. For those who have given bad reviews it's painfully obvious you have no idea how to properly care for a real knife. There's nothing wrong with that, just don't go complaining because of something that's your fault.

I like everything about this knife. Beautiful knife and well made leather sheath. You can't go wrong buying this knife. I would not recommend battoning it. It's a knife not a maul.

Ordered this on fathers day because the one dad used to have was taken a long time ago. It arrived at his trailer early. Was he tested it out, it was every bit as sharp as advertised. You could literally shave with it if you were careful enough. Looks to me made very sturdy as well. My only complaint is that i didnt get one for MYSELF!

My first attempt at ordering this knife failed when I received some rolled-up bubble wrap with a cardboard blade protector inside, but no knife! Amazon was very good about sending a replacement, no questions asked. Upon receiving the replacement knife, it was shocking how rough and uneven the grind lines on the cutting edge were done! Frankly the worst I have ever seen on an American made knife. There was obviously no quality control! The Old Hickory brand has been around for a very long time, offering basic, but decent quality kitchen and butchering knives at a bargain price point. Before and during World War 2, most Americans still lived on farms. This particular double edged style knife was called a "sticking knife" used on farms to slaughter and bleed livestock. In times of war many farm boys took this style knife with them to serve as a "poor man's combat knife." Today many people in the survival and Bushcraft community buy Old Hickory knives to modify to suit their individual needs and tastes. At this price point if a knife is damaged or lost you won't have to cry yourself to sleep over it.

This knife is junk. I could make a better knife than this. The grind was done by Stevie Wonder, not a single grind line is uniform with another. The blade steel is soft as a fruit roll up. I have no idea why I would have bought this item. But it was under $20. 3 stars.

Very disappointed. One edge is as dull as a butter knife the other isn't very sharp either. The grind is very uneven. The handle is hit and miss finish on it. US made? If the packaging wasn't tossed I would of returned it.

Complètement dépassé et bas de gamme mais rappelle des souvenirs nostalgiques aux américains.Coupe bien. Finition moyenne et parfois mauvaise.Pas de trou pour le fixer. Pas d’étui sur ce modele.Pas cher. Pas d’etui.

Ce n est pas dangereux, c est criminel de vendre ça comme un couteau de cuisine.
