GONGE River Stones - The Original Kids Play Stepping Stones for Balance and Coordination, Non-Slip bottom, Stackable, for Indoor and Outdoor, Set of 6 - Vibrant

This review is of the Gonge Riverstones. Riverstones are sold in a set of 6. They are made of a very hard, brightly colored and durable plastic. The underside is hollow which allows for the stones to be nested together for storage (much like one nests mixing bowls together). Being hollow does not effect the sturdiness or durability of this product. The underside of the riverstones has a non-slip rubber grip. We have used the stones on laminate flooring, carpet, grass, cement, and wood chips. None of the riverstones have ever shifted from the position that they were set. However, I would suggest that you be aware that uneven surfaces- such as the wood chips I mentioned - would effect the sturdiness and safety of the item.These were purchased for a special needs 3 year old to use indoors for practice with balance and color identification. Our children and neighbor friends -aged 3 thru13- also use these. They have a variety of ways to play with them: scattering them, lining them up, placing them in a circle, and making an obstacle course with them. I feel they encourage both structured and imaginative play.They have never scuffed or damaged any of our various flooring in any way.We also use these outside in the same manner that we use them indoors. The kids have used these for games such as tag (the stones are safe bases) and as parts of obstacle courses they create. The stones have endured the heat of summer and occasional rainstorms without being damaged. I do not know how much these would fade with continued exposure to the elements. I would recommend that, if you want to mantain their vibrancy, they be stored out of the elements when not in use.The picture I have included is to show the varying sizes of the stones. Please note that only the 6 stones with the arrows pointing at them are included with this purchase. The others that are shown here are Gonge Hilltops which can be purchased separately (which, by the way, I also recommend). I have never used the Riverstones independent of the Hilltops, nor have any of my children. I feel younger kids would be completely content with having only the Riverstones, but older children would probably not find as much enjoyment without having the addition of the larger hilltops.

Considering the price, I wasn’t too sure about these. In the end we love the versatility and quality.Here’s why we love them:-Textured plastic makes them easy to ‘grip’-They have a little give to them making them very safe and easy on your feet.-Durable- A 200 lbs person will pop it in a bit but it pops up right away.-Good size. The small ones are about 12 inches at each length and the large ones about 20-Rubber bottom- they don’t slide or ruin our hardwood.Heres what we don’t like:-We wish there were more options for expanding. The taller version are very expensive.-it could be a tad more cushioned. It’s fun for adults and kids but when you jump 3 feet barefoot it can be less than great when you land on a corner.Games we play with them:-Spread them in a line to make an obstacle course.-Spread them in a circle and have one person be the caller and the other the jumper.Hopper: call a color they hop to. RepeatJumper: call two colors, left foot on first color right foot on second. RepeatDancer: call a color. Left foot to that color. Call a color. Right foot to that color. Repeat.

These have been a hit and kids of all ages love them. Such a simple toy but the possibilities are endless. Kids are so imaginative and you will be impressed by what they dream up when they play with these.They are also made very well. The bottom has a ring of rubber that keeps these riverstones where you place them. This means no slipping out from under your feet.They also stack nicely for storage and transportation. I can fit them easily into an oversized tote bag. Highly recommend!

If you're looking to add a burst of excitement to your kids playtime, look no further than these colorful stepping stones. This toy has been an absolute hit in our household, providing endless fun and adventure for our 2 year old.Durability is a key factor for us when it comes to children's toys, and these stepping stones did not disappoint. They are made of sturdy, high-quality plastic that can withstand the rough and tumble play. Our little one has jumped, hopped, and balanced on these stones, and they've shown no signs of wear and tear after 6 months outside.One of the benefits we've discovered is how these stepping stones encourage imaginative STEM play. The possibilities are limited only by your child's imagination.

These are great toys, though I wish there were more in a single packet. They are a bit expensive, so though I would prefer to buy 2 sets its beyond what I feel comfortable doing right now. They would be particularly good for building confidence and balance in kids that aren't as good or comfortable with walking / running / climbing.I got them because my son is HIGHLY mobile, and I though that playing a game where we jump from one to the next one to build balance. I wanted to increase his balance, to help him stay safe given his adventurous spirit.

I now have 7 grandchildren. Three of them are old enough to have fun with these, but the other four will also enjoy them when they are a bit older, so I feel they will get many years of use. They certainly seem durable enough to last.It was fun watching them play with these. They do help them work on balance and coordination, but they also encouraged creative make believe. They were making up stories about adventures they were on making them need to cross the river. It will be interesting to see what they come up with as more opportunities to play with them occur, as well as as they get older and the younger ones are able to join.I try to have things here for my grandchildren to play with that they don't have at home. I also want things that they can play with at one level when they first begin and at another level as they grow and mature. Being something several can play with at once is an added bonus. The Gonge Riverstones meet all of those needs.
