The bag is full of pieces of wood!
Having never worked with Siberian ginseng root before, I didn't realize I would be in for a nasty surprise. I followed the directions to soak the pieces in boiling water. Then I added them to my soup, where they boiled for a few minutes and simmered for over an hour. The first bite of soup was a mouthful of small pieces of wood amongst the vegetables! No, there was nothing soft about them. Every website I checked out stated that the pieces should soften with soaking.
