Ju 87 D/G: Volume 1 (Monographs 3D Edition)

This is the 54th offering in Kagero's long running "Monographs" series (number 3054). It purports to be the first volume covering the Ju 87 D/G series. I say "purports" because earlier in the the series a total of four volumes were devoted to all of the Ju 87 series of aircraft. Kagero has in the past several years embraced publishing books devoted to views of CAD (computer aided design) models of both aircraft and ships. This provides sufficient reason for more volumes devoted to the Ju 87. Unfortunately, it also provides ample excuse to double dip, i. e. trying to encourage prospective buyers to buy the same material twice. Sadly, that is the case here. Of the the 112 pages contained within the covers all but 38 are recycled from the previous volumes devoted to the Ju 87.The 38 new pages are devoted to the CAD views. The quality appears to be excellent as always and two different aircraft are modeled, a Ju 87D-5 and Ju 87D-8. All the views presented are exterior shots although there are many interesting close up views. The front and rear covers present additional views of the D-5.I can recommend the book highly if one doesn't own the previous volumes devoted to the Ju 87. If one does own them the CAD drawings alone don't really offer enough to justify purchasing the book in my opinion but the prospective buyer will of course judge for himself.

I did not own previous editions covering this aircraft and I was delighted with the CAD details. Of excellent benefit to me was the extensive coverage of the night bomber version and the complicated camouflage pattern. I own the rare limited edition 1/32 Hasegawa night bomber Ju87, and this book will be instrumental in my completion of the kit as accurately as possible. For 1/72 modelers the many blueprints would also justify the purchase.

Superior monograph of an historically-significant aircraft. Lots of really useful computer renderings of details, ideal for modelers and historians.

This arrived in the post this morning and having an extensive library of these publications, I was a little wary of the 3D Edition. However I feel that the 3D artwork is outstanding and an excellent resource and inspiration for technical artists. Sure, the model makers will love this too. I have not read this edition yet but I expect it to be up there with the rest. I am now going to chase the earlier editions. Hope there are still some around…..

本書は、JU87のD型をメインに扱っています。前半は、写真と英語の解説です。後半は、1/72の図面(リベット位置も)にD各タイプの側面図3D画像になっています。3D画像は、鮮明で特にキャノピー後半の銃座の装甲、内側から施された窓枠など白黒写真では誤解しやすい部分もわかりやすく綺麗に描かれています。夜間襲撃機のメロメロ迷彩も(E8+HH)も描かれています。以前の解説では76ライトグレーというのが多かったように思うのですが最近の解説ではサンドゲルプとなっています。vol.1と併せ持つと英語がわからなくても1/72の図面と３D画像でJu87D/Gの詳細は十分把握できる非常に資料性の高い本です。D/G
