When I first began to study witchcraft, I picked up 2 books. One book left a strange taste in my mouth because of the negativity toward other religions and the cocky attitude of the author in general. Then I read Cunningham's Earth, Air, Fire & Water. I was instantly enchanted and felt I had found the home I sought. His writing is timeless, still easy to relate to and encouraging throughout.I love how simply he teaches his philosophies and the organization of the book in general. The book is organized by elements, with special magic (ocean, for example) added in their own categories after the behest of readers of his first elemental work. Part of what makes Cunningham accessible is how easy to understand his instructions are even for beginners and how easily applied each spell is to various pagans and witches no matter what tradition (or lack thereof) they follow. For example, a simple Earth spell for financial prosperity that involves a green candle is one that I've adapted and used for 5 years now.In short, this Cunningham work is an essential to own for witchcraft users.
