5-stars coffee with a 3-stars review
The correct review based on my purchase here is about 3 stars. However this is such a wonderful coffee I’m reluctant to give it such a rating. We visit Hawaii 2 to 3 times a year and decided to purchase this Kauai coffee during our recent visit in Honolulu. It was a pleasantly surprise Kauai coffee is as good as Kona without the high priced tag. Being unable to buy it in California after we ran out I decided to buy it here on Amazon. The coffee didn’t taste as good as what we purchased in Honolulu. However if not paying any attention to the acidic taste I could notice a similar taste as the one we purchased in Honolulu. I realized the bag we purchased on Amazon was probably sitting on the shelf too long before it was shipped to us and lost its freshness. I decided to purchase the coffee directly from Kauai coffee and have it shipped to us. The coffee was fresh and as good as what I remember with our first purchase in Honolulu.

Not worth the 2x price.
We have been buying the 10% mix for a few years, found this pure mix a couple of weeks ago. After trying it my wife and I decided that it's not really any better than the mix and certainly not enough to be worth the 2x cost. It's good, just not better enough to justify the extra cost.

100% Kauai coffee at a fair price
We have visited the plantation where this coffee is grown and I drink it exclusively

my all time favorite coffee
Well, I'm not much of a coffee connoisseur, but after trying lots of coffee beans from the grocery store I at least know there is a huge difference and I eventually settled for the taste of "Kona" labelled ones (which only have a tiny amount of actual Kona beans though). I did not even know yet those beans come from Hawaii, I just preferred the taste. Then two years or so ago we spent a week on Hawaii and I got some 100% Kauai beans (much more affordable over there) and was blown away by how much I loved the taste. Ever since I'm ordering this one off Amazon every month (drinking only a few cups a day at home and using something cheaper for the office). Note that the same Kauai Coffee company also sell a version which looks just the same but is only 10% Kauai grown beans (and it's not horrible either, in fact it's what I drink at the office) - but this one is the 100% Kauai beans and just amazing. (Unfortunately just have to trust the freshness, there is a best-by date on it but no roasting date or anything (but I assume the difference is about a year) and so far I have been lucky with always getting bags roasted only a month or two earlier by that calculation).

Just OK, little on the dark side
My experience: If you really want a good cup of Kona coffee, you must go to the islands. This coffee is ok but kinda ordinary and not really worth the money. Also, beans are roasted on the dark side medium. I prefer a lighter roast. To me, dark roast tends to be more burned and more bitter tasting. Second time I purchased this coffee; the last time it had more flavor, not as dark roasted. Probably not going to purchase it again. Still looking for that Kona coffee like I had in Hawaii. Unable to purchase it on line at a reasonable price anywhere.

Review - KAUAI Prime Grade Medium Roast, Whole Bean
We purchased to try it out... Returned from Maui, not to long ago and thoroughly enjoyed their coffee, on the island. We are regular 'buyers' of Kauai's blended Kona [like the low-acid & smooth taste], and wanted to try this variety. It is smooth - lower acid - nice medium bean; Which doesn't break-the-bank for flavor and taste. Pricing is nice [Yes, I find it offensive for $45 +, a pound for Kona's being sold here and about...], hence our reason to try this particular one. We'll try this again. A nice coffee...

Enjoying the idea of drinking Hawaii
Tastes like coffee. Pretty good. Really enjoy it but think it's partly that I know it's from Hawaii, the Garden Isle of Kauai. Makes me imagine fragrant green forests, lush soil, and tropical richness rarely positioned in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Brings to mind all the effort that goes into coffee fruits grown well, sorted, picked and roasted at their peak, then hermetically sealed in festive-looking, aluminum lined bags, and shipped quickly from halfway to the other side of the world to my humble Southern doorstep. Thoughts to savor while enjoying a good cup of coffee. Maybe I should just buy cheaper coffee and invest in coffee table books of South American rain forests, but I don't mind splurging for such a good story accompanying my morning sips. It's much more affordable than visiting Hawaii regularly and easier to fit into my morning before work. I've had much more expensive 100% Kona and such, but still really enjoy this.
