Lucy & Tom at Christmas (Lucy and Tom) Paperback – International Edition, October 27, 2015

One of my favorite books from childhood. The illustrations are so detailed and the story is very cute with hilariously accurate depictions of children’s emotions. Didn’t realize that until adulthood :) bought this book as soon as my daughter was born to read to her each Christmas season.The physical book itself was a bit worn but that makes it all the better because it probably has been loved by many little readers :)

I love this book. It's low key-just perfect for a quiet Christmas read. Every year I read it to my students at school. We talk about the differences in the way these children celebrate Christmas in England and they celebrate Christmas in the states. I bought this book to share with my grandson. I hope he loves it as much as I do!

A must have for a children's Christmas. My kids loved this when they were young.

This book was recommended by a friend, and as a massive Shirley Hughes fan, I bought it sight unseen. The illustrations are as beautiful and detailed as always, and it's almost worth the book for them alone.I was a little underwhelmed by the story. It's more a series of snapshot depictions of a traditional British Christmas, than a progressive plot.If you're looking for a little nostalgia or info on a classic British Christmas, this is the book for you. If you're looking to have a simpler plot for very young kids, this is perfect (they'll pore over the illustrations).If you're looking for a more developed beginning-middle-end Shirley Hughes story, go with Dogger.

Ein wunderschönes Weihnachtsbuch, welches ich meinen Kindern vorlese, damit sie ein besseres Gefühl für Englisch bekommen. Gelungene Texte und herrliche Bilder! Gefällt auch meinen Kindern sehr (12,10,8).

This book was a Christmas Eve tradition for my sons and was bought as a replacement to start the tradition for my grandchildren. Old fashioned values

Our family's all time favourite British children's author. You can't go wrong with her story and poem collections, and her characters become beloved friends. We read this sporadically throughout the year! Nostalgic, yet comfortingly every-day story elements - no grand, fantastical events. Her illustrations have a shabby-chic charm.

The whole of the book is great. The scenes of the market at Christmas and the turkeys hanging up in the Butchers.Making homemade Christmas presents and cards.The stirring of the Christmas pudding and helping Mum make Mince pies.A truly Magical Time with all family involved.
