The top and bottom halves seperate. The top is the bowl and lid. The bottom half is the sealed waste water container. Once you seperate the top and bottom (there is a release lever on the back side) you take the lower waste container to a toilet. There is a swing out pipe you extend over the toilet, unscrew the end cap and dump (carefully) into the toliet bowl and flush. You can add water to the lower unit to help rinse it out and then dump that water also. Put the cap back on the pipe, turn it back to its stowage location and reassmble the 2 halves.

Yes, it would be. It is bigger than a child potty chair so they would need help getting on and off.

You do not need chemical for the top water compartment. That is used to "flush" by pushing the bellows. You can add RV antifreeze if you are worried about it freezing. Follow the RV antifreeze directionss for the water to antifreeze mixture. For the bottom blackwater waste storage you add RV waste water chemical. I like the dry powder version. Just dump in through the drain hole when the slide "flush" flap is open.
