Colmans Mint Concentrate - Reborn!
I used to love Colmans Mint Concentrate. Easily one of the best mint “sauces” and I would literally eat it raw, but additionally, would make the best base for a more typical sauce. When it was discontinued approx 7/8 years ago, I was dismayed, to the point of contacting Colmans/Unilever to confirm if this was truly the case… sadly, it was.Since then, I’d tried to find a suitable replacement, going so far as looking up the recipe to replicate from scratch, but could just not get anything anywhere near the same…Fast forward to Dec 24 and after trying a reasonably tasty ASDA own brand mint sauce, I was reminded of the fabled Mint concentrate, and on off chance, looked on Amazon to see if maybe it had been relaunched… no dice. However, I did notice this product. Initially, I almost immediately dismissed it as “mint sauce” normally means the heavily sugared and “slimy” sauces that are standard, but I noticed the recipe was… the same as mint concentrate. I then perused the Q&A here and lo and behold, someone stated it is the same as old mint concentrate!!I was surprised and a little skeptical, but for the price, it was worth giving it a go.I am so glad I did. This is -exactly- the same as the old mint concentrate and I have been ecstatic at discovering this. Needless to say, the entire 2.25kg of it has been demolished in less than a month. This is the real deal, and easily one of the best mint “sauce” products available.

The best bottled mint
As far as bottled mint sauce goes this is by far the best one and the one most like real mint sauce.vakue for money is amazing as the size of the tub is mahoosive!! I dilute it down using a bit of malt vinegar as it's really thick. All in all it's really good value and tastes really good too!

Great taste!
This is perfect Tartare sauce. My only word of warning is that it is very big. It will last a long time. Unless you use it very regularly, or run a catering establishment, it’s likely to be too much for one family. Having said that, I continued to use it well beyond Its expiry date, and could detect no deterioration in the quality or flavour.

Something seriously wrong here.
When the first one came it was like something you would put in a budgie cage! the container was hugely bloated and would not stand up as the bottom was pushed out and the lid was bulging. I did not know whether it was safe to move or if I should contact bomb disposal. I contacted Amazon and they arranged for a replacement to be sent out, sadly this one was the same. They must have been that way when packed as they must have taken some time to get that bad, they were full of bubbles and obviously fermenting, I have not binned them yet in case some one would like to put on a bio hazard suit and examine them. UPDATE one of them has broken the seal and has started to ooze down the side of the container, I am concerned having watched several Quatermass films when I was younger. I can only hope this is not some new kind of life form and we will never be seen ag Update 10/09/23 I have often wondered about the point of these reviews but apparently no one at amazon pays any heed to them, from my review it is obvious that the second item was as rancid as the first but I am still waiting for someone (anyone) to contact me about a refund. I am far from impressed especially considering the very many purchases I have made with them.
